Having read the excellent reviews we thought we would try this place for a change. The menu does contain some more unusual items and we chose 2 that we had not seen elsewhere. The lentil bake was tasty and hot but the crispy morcilla parcels were disappointing. They looked good but, I suspect, had been deep fried earlier then warmed... More

We came in January and so the seafront areas were a little chilly, but this bar looking across the square is sheltered and sunny. Good service, drinks and tapas. Highly recommend this bar

Warm winter sunshine and wine & tapas for a very lazy lunch. Not as touristy as other places nearby, the Plaza Mercad seemed to be for the locals. Lots of families with young children, and lots to watch as the world went by. The food here is excellent, hand prepared and well presented. The curried ling was really good !

Been to Malaga several times and could happily eat here lunch and dinner every day. Food quality is superb and lots of choice (and lots of veggie options too!). Staff are cheerful and hard working. Can't wait to return

Went in to Malaga today with our two dogs and ate at the fantastic la plaza in Plaza Merced. While browsing the menu a waiter arrived with water and two bowls of chicken for our dogs, a wonderful gesture. We shared six tapas and were delighted with the quality and freshness. Very attentive and friendly staff and the price was... More

After some research on Trip Advisor we had decided to have lunch here. When we approached the restaurant a waiter came and was a bit intrusive (we find it very annoying when they try to read the menu to us, as if we weren’t capable of reading ourselves) and we almost turned and walked away, but we had seen several... My wife and I actually had breakfast in the place next door which was ok for breakfast, but I was intrigued by La Plaza because of its contemporary approach to their Tapas. As soon as I saw battered Ling with curry and an equally mouth watering salmon dish on offer, I knew we had to go back. The restaurant is... More

Looked into this restaurant before visiting Malaga and was impressed with the variety of tapas available. Went for lunch and ordered 5 tapas dishes and I was not disappointed. Had the bruschetta which was the biggest I have ever seen and tasted fantastic. Only downside of the visit was who I assume to be the owner. Very rude to the... More
