Decent German food. Pretty empty but still the waitresses had to think real hard which table to assign us ... Not very cheap. Considered a tourist trap by locals.

Leipzig has way cheaper and way better food options. Service was unfriendly, food does not appear homemade. All of us complained about too much salt and little taste. Definitely not worth the money. Atmosphere is sadly more like a big drinking hall. Seen it once, won't go again.

For tourists this is a must see. Large historical cellar - apparently Goethe used this place as an inspiration for some scences out of Faust. Food is traditional German fare, bit expensive compared to other places, and of very good quality.

Auerbachs Keller, now located inside a covered shopping arcade, has a long history dating from when JW von Goethe went there as a student to revolutionaries of many ages the last of which was the late 1980s before the final collapse of the GDR. In those days Auerbachs Keller most likely was a place the smoke, argue and drink cheap... More

Right spot to taste good German food. Typical dishes served in big portions. All very delicious however this hugh restaurant gets very busy and noisy. Do not expect much attention from the waitresses either. However nothing goes wrong..typical German: effective and efficient but no intimacy. Decoration is nice and traditional and they serve a very good dark beer.

We read about this place in a guide book. It appeared to be delicious and historically involved. Mm, lecker own dark beer, delicious meat in sauce with mushrooms, red Kohl and potato klößen. Relatively cheap for such amount and quality. Would definitely recommend! There is a small and very appealing shop inside with Faust and Goethe merchandise.

A very good restaurant. The food is cooked thoroughly and prices are at a level of common sense. Do not miss to go one evening. I was disappointed that the show was only in German ...

We were recommended this restuarant by our hotel as a place that served good German food. The interior and setting itself warrants a visit complimented by the delicious hearty food. A couple of mains and drinks came to €50 just make sure you get there early or book in advance.

This historic restaurant attracts all the visitors of the city. Though it is huge it is fast always full. The food is good, the service average.

Had a great meal in this very atmospheric restaurant. The special of the day was roasted boar, which they had done in a very traditional German manner. And to perfection. Service OK, but not fantastic. Reservation is needed, at least in December.
