Several friends and family and I visited Auerbachs Keller on a busy Saturday night in December and despite being fully booked, still managed to accommodate for 7 of us which was great news as, having eaten there once before, I was keen to show the place to my friends and family who hadn't. The staff were very friendly and their... More

We enjoyed a nice traditional dinner in the Goethe Stube, a historic cellar where Goethe got the inspiration to write Faust. The statue of Mephisto and Faust are at the entrance of the cellar. The Goethe cellar was built in 1530.

Nice restaurant with nice friendly service. Who help you even when.you.did not made a reservation. We had different dishes and all were very good. If you are in Leipzig and need a diversity in foods go here. Nice atmosphere as well in a very big cellar underground but you don't have the feeling you are underground.

My son and daughter in law suggested ate here as it is known as the place in Goethe's book Faust that students sold their souls to the devil - and we weren't disappointed. It is in a cellar, large and beautifully decorated - full of atmosphere. There is an extensive menu, also available in English which helps, and we chose... More

My German xolleague booked thus restayrant. It is based in a cellar (keller) and the myth is that Goethe got his (visual) inspiration for his famous Goethe story. The atmosphere is truly German: wooden, long tables as if you are visiting a beer cellar :) I ordered deer with Apfelrotkohl. Delicious meal! And a big portion too so I was... More

This famous restaurant is worth a visit. The food is typical German style and the quality was good. The atmosphere and feel of this place can't be matched anywhere else, you really are sitting in a world recognised historical place. The service was average, neither rude nor friendly. The restaurant has become a little touristy and sometimes feels like it... More

"Customer is King " doesn't apply here! I arrived quite early 17.00 with my elderly parents wanting to show them something typical of Leipzig . We weren't made welcome at all . Told we had to leave in an hour . If it was me I would have left immediately but poor mum and dad were tired so we stayed... More

This wasn't a particularly pleasant experience. The Auersbachs Keller's business model seems to be getting customers through the process, taking their money, and showing them the door as quickly as possible. The model clearly works, because the restaurant was packed (with tourists), but it's a shame that they don't have any incentive to up their game and stop relying on... More

Even if you don't really have enough time ro go there, go there, they are quick, almost impolitely quick - that was our impression. Or the other way around: if you want to experience efficiency, watch and learn! Food was good, pricy though - value for money is acceptable.
