Visited the restaurant with friends and it was an amazing restaurant experience. The food was superb, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The wine pairing was excellent and we were pleasantly surprised it was primarily local wine. Compared to other Michelin restaurants it was very...fairly priced and not as snobby.More

This was such a delightful evening. This is a beautiful restaurant easy to reach from the Altstadt and Neuestadt on a bus that stops directly opposite. It is indeed a studio of delight. The restaurant is beautiful and the care taken with every little detail...of your evening makes it feel very special. We had the five courses and wine matchings. We had already established ahead of time what we could not eat and each of us had a menu to suit us. We loved the cutlery drawer on each side of the table, the beautiful water glasses and the care and discreet attention of our wine sommelier and our waitress. But what was outstanding was the wonderful and new flavours we experienced. Every dish was a discovery and a joy. Rhubarb with radish and couscous was amazing and all the little extras too. The wine matchings were fascinating and so carefully curated. We were not surprised that this restaurant has a michelin star. Thanks to all of you at Genuss Atelier.More

Definitely not what we expected a Michelin Restaurant to be like. The ambience was very promising with that rustic charme of an old french wine cellar. The food sadly did not match at all. What should have been a "journey of tastes", in the end...came down to only one motto: "Salt to the limit (of what is humanly possible)". By the third dish I could even feel the salt grinding on my teeth! Salt and a bit of sweetness were the only impressions of this menu with an otherwise plain taste, texture and color palette. The only true joy this evening was the somelier who gladly switched to English for my partner and helped us through this otherwise rough evening. A restaurant with potential in location and staff, but as long as the kitchen lacks guidance and inspiration, not worth the money at all. We won't be coming back.More

This was our second visit to this warm and welcoming restaurant, with creative and extraordinary cuisine. Chef Marcus Blonkowski strikes a perfect balance between simplicity and complexity, drawing out the essence of fresh ingredients without pretension or fussiness. A starter tempered the slight sharpness of...young Brussels sprouts with creamy goat cheese, (camouflaged as cherries!). Eagle fish paired the crunchiness of its fried skin with the tenderness of the meat. Chef Blonkowski brought out the rich flavor of venison without it tasting gamey. The front of the house is managed by Marcus’s sister, Nicole, who oversees an engaging and knowledgeable staff; we were even greeted by name upon arrival. As New York foodies who do not speak German, we were at ease with the English-speaking wait staff. The prices were surprisingly moderate for a restaurant of this caliber. We suspect the Blonkowskis are due to earn another Michelin star – this is a destination restaurant that should not be missed.More

What a regretful experience ! Our server was rude, difficult (e.g., I had to ask for the wine list four times) and he seemed to have completely ignored us many times. The food was average at best and very far from the overall concept I...heard this restaurant is/was trying to achieve – although expensive, of course. The sommelier saved the night and was very friendly and helpful. If you care for your customers, you should let them know that you don’t have parking available / nearby.More

The food was of the highest quality which I would describe as “fine dining”. I enjoyed every bite of every course (I had the 8 course meal). Each bite was an explosion of flavors. Every course built upon the previous and surprised my taste buds.

On this occasion my only restaurant meal in Dresden was at Genuss Atelier (1star Michelin) where I had visited in October 2018 when it was unrecognised and I was the sole diner so last night it was good to see the restaurant full. Located in...the cellar of a villa 10 minutes tram ride from the centre, it offers a delightful and cosy environment. Personable and friendly service was provided by the chef’s wife and owner and a team of young waiters. The menu offers a la carte or a surprise menu of varying courses from four to eight courses. The informative wine list offers mostly local Saxonian wines from respected wine makers. The evening started with a glass of Chandon Garden Spritz (sparkling wine with aromatic bitter liqueur, oranges and spices) followed by Buttermilk bread and parsley butter. My first course was Scallop - pumpkin - miso - beech mushrooms accompanied by a glass of Muscaris from Tim Strasser, Meissen. Due to a slight language misunderstanding I then received Turnip - Pak Choi – Quinoa served with a glass of Auxerrois from Bad Sulza. Next came my intended main course Turbot - chicory - parsnip together with a glass of Tausendsassa (an unusual blend of Gewurztraminer and Riesling) made by Alexandre Dupont de Ligonnes just south of Dresden. My excellent and most enjoyable evening ended with a glass of Hazelnut destillate. Highly recommnded and very good value for the quality experience.More

Oh my goodness, this restaurant is now at the top of our list of Michelin restaurants. The atmosphere was casual, but the food was amazing. Our servers and sommelier were attentive and fun and at one point, the owner even delivered one of the courses....Every single dish was absolutely wonderful and the wine pairings were perfect. One of the things we really appreciated is that we could pick the number of courses we wanted to order which was really nice since sometimes with a pre-fix menu, it feels like we get way too much food. And most of all, it was one of the most affordable Michelin restaurants we have ever visited. We highly recommend visiting this restaurant the next time you are in Dresden.More

At first glance this restaurant makes you think you are entering a typical German Bierstube. The cellar has rough stones and vault ceilings. The ambiance is agreeable and good. The service is extremely kind. And the menu is challenging but gives safe alternatives. The food...is excellent. When asked the cook came to our table to explain the recipe of his sauerkraut bread. He wrote it all down so we could give it a try at home.More
