Something special We're looking for something special for breakfast and we definitely found it. "Dresdner Gedeck" - is a great start for the day. The pie is delicious, I haven't eaten anything like it before. If you are not looking for ordinary, this is the right place.

I made a booking for breakfast here based on other positive reviews, and it’s proximity to my hotel. We were not disappointed! The food was great- I had the small breakfast plate and my husband had the large, the difference being that his had 2 rolls and came with the addition of jam - which was house made and delicious! Everything was very high quality, tasty, and the service was also excellent from the warm and welcoming waitress.
My German is beginning/intermediate level (A2) and I had no trouble communicating either when calling to book or when we were there. The waitress also spoke quite good English and the menu had English translation so I think you would be fine even if you didn’t speak German.
We also enjoyed a piece of the famous Eierscheck cake to share, and purchased a bottle of the coffee liquor to take home.
I do recommend to book as it’s quite small and fills up quickly.
Thanks for a lovely experience and we will 100% visit Dresdner Kaffeestübchen again when next in Dresden.

The Dresden coffee shop impresses in many ways: the nice ambience with film props and records of various singers, but also the food, which is nothing "special" but feels special. The service was very attentive and friendly, you felt like you were in a Saxon family business.
The price for breakfast of €9 is probably not to be topped in any other restaurant.

Quaint little coffee shop close to main Frauenkirche square. They only have a few tables, reservations are required, and it is cash only. They have a full selection of coffee and espresso drinks. Their specialty is a local desert Eierschecke. We had the classic and it was excellent, very rich and filling. The have special varieties sometimes but not the day we visited. The have a salami and cheese plate for breakfast also …but that is all, it is a very limited menu if you don’t want the Eierschecke.

We were there for breakfast on Saturday (June 1st) and were completely impressed by the location and the service. We immediately made a reservation for the next day. Absolute disaster. After ordering, two cold drinks arrived!! A cappuccino and an eggnog punch. Then we waited for breakfast, but a couple came to buy eggnog. My wife had also ordered one, but it didn't come. Instead, the couple ordered two cappuccinos to go. How does that make you feel as a guest waiting for breakfast?

In the café they really have the best egg cheque. The cake is bottomless, the cottage cheese is super loose and fluffy and plenty of egg cheeks on top. We were unannounced in the cafe and wanted to take egg checks home, the Owner was super friendly and made this possible without any problems. Highly recommended.

We’ve been there twice on breakfasts. A small cozy cafe in the heart of Dresden - near the Frauenkirche. Breakfasts were very delicious for an affordable price. Nice atmosphere and music inside. It’s better to call beforehand to book a breakfast.

We were surprised by this small coffee shop. The attendants are simpatic and the best is the Eierschecke. I tried before in other places and thought: it is nit really my thing but let mysellf beeing convinced by the sympathic attendant to give anotger chance and try it again! Glad we did so. We returned there 3 times more during our stay in town 😅.
When in Dresden, it is a must!

If you want to try an original Dresden Eierschecke, you've come to the right place.
For our taste, this is definitely the best. Baked according to a family recipe and very fresh. It's best to call in advance and reserve a table. There are only four tables in the café. The coffee is also roasted in-house and you can taste it. We'll definitely be back. Many greetings from the beautiful Vogtland.

I ordered a set meal, but I didn't know there was alcohol in it because I couldn't read German, which surprised me.
The desserts were delicious, but the coffee was average.
The environment was like home, and the boss was very nice.
The biggest drawback was that they didn't accept bank cards.

It's located in the historic town, but hard to locate, as it doesn't have a door opening directly outside to the street. You should plan for take-away, as its number of seating is around 10. Cappuccino for €2.90 and eierschecke for €3.25, which is a good price I must say, though you would be OK with just trying once.

We really wanted to try some egg checks... and this was the place for us! Great place, quaint. The boss is always good for a short (or long) snack. The eggscheek and the Dresden place were very delicious. Clear recommendation!

A gem, central but still hidden. A bit of GDR charm with a very friendly owner who also runs the little café. Delicious coffee, great egg cake and even got a seat. I recommend it.

Wir waren in Dresden 4 Tage, und haben viele Eierschecke probiert: hier THE BEST: heute habe ich nichts gegessen, nur 4 mal diese Kuche. DANKE, es was super!
We have been 4 days in Dresden and here we have tried the best cake, so much that today (last day of holiday) I did not eat anything else than 4 pieces of cakes! SO GOOD! the original is the best, but the one with poppyseeds is amazing as well
