About 40 yds from the historic Dresden Opera House in a wing of the famous Zwinger Museum, this delightful spot is a wonderful refuge. Small and with a relatively brief menu, the service is excellent, the ambiance mellow, and the food outstanding. The weather was just at the end of a historic heat wave when we dropped in withoug a... More

Our family of sixteen were just on a family roots trip to Germany. This was one of the restaurants that was prearranged for us to have dinner. We had to preorder our meal from a list of four choices for each course so I have no idea what it's like to just go there and order from a menu. We... More

I came to this cafe for a coffee pit stop because it had an amazing outdoor ambience. But I was disappointed by the bad service and rude waitress. We sat outside and ordered two pots of coffee and the waitress gave us an annoyed look. I don't know if she was racist to Asians or just hates her job. I... More

My wife and I were lucky enough to get a table for dinner without a reservation. Our meal was delicious. For starters we had the beetroot crepe stuffed with cheese and Jerusalem artichokes. For main course I chose the sea bass. The food was beautifully cooked, every flavor delicately balanced. The presentation matched the taste: it was exquisite. If you... More

Visited w my family and friends on a cold winter day. The place is bright and welcoming, a well sorted wine list with a good food selection made our visit a satisfying one. Service was fast and competent - we will be back!

Have been to this restaurant several times while on business in Dresden. Food always good and although small selection to choose from there is always something different and tasty to choose. Quite but good atmosphere so good for talking business. Staff very professional and helpful that speak excellent English

My friend and I were in Dresden for a few days and ate here on two separate occasions. The food was top quality and excellently prepared. My friend's leek quiche was so tasty that she wished that the portion was a bit larger. I had the lemon goat cheese ravioli which was al dente. The meals were served with two... More

Alte Meister was highly recommended by my Dresden guidebook (Marco Polo). I was a little sceptical since it's situated in a very touristy area in the old town. My dinner there turned out to be a enjoyable culinary experience except for some minor issues which I'll explain below. Setting - very airy dining hall with huge bay windows and extremely... More

Read the reviews & admit to being a tad sceptical as it is next to the major tourist attraction in town. This is no gourmet restaurant, but the staff were knowlegeable and professional. Lovely glass of riesling wine to accompany a starter of terrine of eel followed by a mains of local trout in sage butter, braised cucumber and mashed... More

We had a terrific dinner at Alte Meister. I'm sure in warm weather it is lovely to sit outside, but it was cold and we were inside. The waiter was very friendly and helpful, and the food was outstanding. I was sorry the restaurant was fairly empty, but perhaps we ate later than most (8:15 pm) do here. The setting... More
