Visited Christo recently for lunch. Staff was friendly, but service / kitchen was quite slow, especially considering that there weren't many guests. I ordered a big salad with "Salmon". I assumed I would get a salmon fillet, but it turned out to be just some slices of smoked salmon. Bit weak for the price of 14 or 15 EUR, I... More

Located next to Porta Nigra, on the outskirts if the old town Trier, the restaurant servs in- as well as on the outdoor terrace. We chose out, with nice weather and a very stylish terrace. The service turned out to be very efficient; swift and friendly, and the food actually exceeded our expectations. Zum Christophel is a good choice and... More

Had lunch with wife, unfortunately it took 1 hour to get the dishes. Furthermore the staff was impolite. Dishes were mediocre, even thought it was a simple recipe. Paying took 25 minutes too. All this with just 8 guests in the restaurant. Avoid at all cost.

It's almost fine dining, but not quite. Found a piece of plastic in my main course and the manager apologised for it with a free dessert so all good. The food was very well prepared and tasty. Nice bottle of wine, too.

Quick shopping in the grand town of Trier. After the burden of shopping we reward ourselves with a fine meal at Zum Christophel (Christo?, they have remodeled, perhaps the name is changing). We have dined here since 1976 and have extensive history of fine food. The menu is simpler but contains adequate choices. I am pleased Bitburger Pils is back;... More

The Zum Christophel is a traveler's delight. Not gasthaus kitsch but a modern restaurant with an excellent chef. A wonderful selection of local and traditional dishes and an experienced wait staff. Wine selections include choices from Trier and the nearby Moselle River. We enjoyed traditional German fare such as rouladen and veal from an expansive menu and were pleased by... More

Ideally placed from our hotel (the Mercure), this place offered really good food, excellent wines, and for me, real Bitburg on draught (my personal favourite German Beer). Service was the let down. Our waitress seemed to be a bit of a bubble head, all smiles and giggles, and if she had said "you are welcome" one more time, I might... More

Good service, wine and food. An overall good restaurant with a traditional menu - perhaps a bit on the expensive end compared to other restaurants, but nothing too crazy.

Great for wines, and chilling in the evening. Try one of the german starters or simply sit outside on the terrace with one of the wine tasting menus.

Easy to find next to The Porta Nigra. Very quiet the night we were here, but the food was very good with excellent staff
