First night back in Mainz and we returned to an old favourite. Tasty traditional food, nicely cooked with great German lager. You can't go wrong at this place so I'll be back next year!

We have been there on several occasions, big plates of homemade food, this is not for "have to loose weight" people, decoration goes with the "cave", sit on a big or smaller table and enjoy Rhineland-Palatinate from a different angle. Our international guest always enjoyed the visit.

We've eaten here twice in our 3 days in Mainz trying roast pork, roast chicken and the local specialty "flammenkuche" a very thin crusted savoury tart all excellent. The apfelstrudl was ok but not like the Austrian we are used to. The service was very engaging. The restaurant was crowded tonight with widely varying age groups.

A friend told me about putenschnitzel which was on the menu here so I tried it. Very good! Of course, the beer was great! Sat outside for a very relaxing experience in the great city of Mainz.

The cuisine is sober but the wines are splendid. After a long working Session my colleagues and me spent some good and hilarious hours in this cave that sell the wines of a century. Good place to relax.

Augustinerkellers are a German institution. They may be found in several cities. Augustiner means Augustinians, an order of monks based on the principles laid down by Saint Augustine. These medieval orders had large chapter houses and were self-sufficient regarding food and drink, especially wine and beer. This one has a great atmosphere with tables for couples or small groups at... More

We had business visitors from South Africa, Turkey and Dubai with our group being a mixture of Nationalities as well, so I wanted a restaurant that had enough choice for everyone. This can sometimes be a challenge in Germany, which is known for pork-based dishes. The choice of menu items at the Augustiner-Keller is extensive and suited the group very... More

the restaurant is located in the central Mainz near all the shopping and other restaurants. Over the years, they speak more English than in the past and also have English menu. Great authentic food.

We went here on a Sunday night as there are not a lot of choices. It is a quaint, small two floor space located in Old Town Mainz. They had Flammkuchen which I thought was more Alsatian so I'm not sure about the origins of the menu as a whole. The Flammkuchen was quite tasty as a shared appetizer. I... More
