A local friend took us here for dinner during our trip in Mainz and we really enjoyed the food. The fries that come with the dishes are not the best, but the sniztchel is amazing (I had it with mushroom sauce) and super filling. The waitress wasn't particularly nice tho (hence not the 5/5) and kept coming to the table... More

Have had dinner at the Augustinerkeller a couple of times over the last several years while visiting Mainz on business. Very nice selection of traditional German entrees and deserts. Everything is first-rate and prices are very reasonable.

Food is just ok. The bartender has many political views and a nasty mouth. He came and sat at our table-uninvited! I will not go back.

My wife and I had dinner here recently. We ordered a traditional meal of schnitzel. The meal can with traditionally prepared potatoes. My wife also ordered a salad, and I the soup as well as a bottle of sparkling water to go with the meal. The food was delicious and the portions generous. We would definitely eat here again!

Good Food. Nice atmosphere. I've always been very happy with the food quality here. Beware if ordering water which we would expect to be free is 2 euro for a 10 oz bottle. Better to order a beer or another beverage which would be about the same price.

First night back in Mainz and we returned to an old favourite. Tasty traditional food, nicely cooked with great German lager. You can't go wrong at this place so I'll be back next year!

We have been there on several occasions, big plates of homemade food, this is not for "have to loose weight" people, decoration goes with the "cave", sit on a big or smaller table and enjoy Rhineland-Palatinate from a different angle. Our international guest always enjoyed the visit.

We've eaten here twice in our 3 days in Mainz trying roast pork, roast chicken and the local specialty "flammenkuche" a very thin crusted savoury tart all excellent. The apfelstrudl was ok but not like the Austrian we are used to. The service was very engaging. The restaurant was crowded tonight with widely varying age groups.

A friend told me about putenschnitzel which was on the menu here so I tried it. Very good! Of course, the beer was great! Sat outside for a very relaxing experience in the great city of Mainz.

Thank WHCharlie
