Delicious schnitzel in a lovely atmosphere

This restaurant was recommended by the staff at Hotel Koenigshof. After a short walk from the hotel, I spotted the traditional red brick and charming biergarten. This restaurant was recommended by the staff at Hotel Koenigshof. After a short walk from the hotel, I spotted the traditional red brick and charming biergarten. Inside, there were several parties of locals - always a nice feeling. I do not typically eat pork, but couldn't resist the draw of a traditional schnitzel with mushrooms - moist, lightly breaded, and... More

After a visit to the Unterhaus with some friends we were all a little hungry. It was well after 10 pm, so we weren't sure we would find a place that was still serving food. Luckily the Proviant-Magazin, which is very close to the Unterhaus, keeps its kitchen open until 11 pm to cater to the theater- and movie-goers, as... More

Liked -- Mainz City offers Rhine River, stores, museum, restaurants. Disliked -- Hilton hotel is old, over 20 years.

Yum! The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because this is not haute cuisine and some dishes are better than others: but everything we had here was delicious, lots of it classic German fare. Plus, they are extremely accommodating and friendly if, say, you would rather have vegetables than potatoes. I, for one, am still dreaming about how... More

Reading the other reviews I feel the odd man out. We usually stay nearby (on business) and have been here three times or so. My colleagues a little more. We go as it is close to the hotel, good last supper in Mainz. The building itself is awesome. Great place for a restaurant.and very nicely decorated. The beer slection is... More

At the Proviantmagazin, something magical must be happening at 5pm: there are dishes which can be ordered between 2pm and 5pm, and there are dishes which can be ordered outside of this time frame: the guest is explicitly warned about this. We came at 4:50pm when the staff seemed to be in some undescribable commotion as to accomplish something; old... More

beside a la card menu, there is the possibility for high quality all you can eat buffet. In addition you can get local wine (including the new wine "Federweißer" and "Rauscher" in early fall). The price is not really low, however, you get good quality. Also the place is nice, close to the "Unterhaus" (with political cabaret etc.), close to... More

Excellent German Food! The Restaurant has also a special day menu, like a Schnitzel Day. Many Locals are eating here. It is in a great Location and close to the Train Station and Shopping Area. The Restaurant is in a Historical Building and has a big and nice Beer Garden Area to eat outside. This Restaurant is for a nice... More

Very good place, the staff was very polite and friendly, the environment looks good and the food was very well prepared. It has a good range of prices and offers breakfast buffet.
