The place is impressive: architecture, materials, design, crafts... Don't miss to visit the toilets ;)!! The food is detailed prepared and every combination is unique and delicious! Price worth the full experience! A bit loud if full but it does not really bother if a business dinner. However, if a romantic one.... And the place is set for romantic dinners!

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your appreciable feedback on the visit of our restaurant Hugenpottchen at the Schlosshotel Hugenpoet! We are pleased that you enjoyed our food and the castle with its decor and its atmosphere. We visited with a party of 8 and thought food and service were outstanding. My wife and I had the Weiner Schnitzel and thought it was excellent. For starter, I had the corn soup and found it to have unique taste and would definitely order again. They offered menus in English which helped. The atmosphere of this restaurant in a... More

While staying in Essen we discovered this delightful castle, full of history and with a lovely restaurant. It was a stunning summer day and we expressed our preference to sit outside in one of the several empty tables on the terrace. We were advised they weren't available for reasons only known to the staff as they remained empty for the... More

Dear guest, thank you for your positive feedback due to your stay in our restaurant Hugenpöttchen. We are sorry that you weren’t able to sit outside on our beautiful terrace on that day. A customer event had a guaranteed booking for the whole terrace. As the reception had been delayed it seemed to you that the tables were not reserved.... More

Went there on Valentines day and partially for work. This a beautiful place to enjoy an excellent meal, great service and very nice decor. I wish that i had taken a picture of the fireplace. I would highly recommend visiting this place for a mean. Fine foods with great flavours, ranging from traditional dishes to international. The evening was topped... More

We really loved returned to this superb Schloss set in lovely park grounds not far off the Rhur. Peaceful and quite the staff really try to loop ok after us.....they have main,y German guests so language can be a challenge for some of them. The menu and wine lists are great we ate there four nights sometimes inside sometimes on... More

Excellent food for a good price. Nice ambiance. Both for business or for a romantic private dinner. Good service with a smile. I liked the wines even when I normally don't drink German wines.

The place (kind of a castle) the restaurant is located is just amazing. I was with my wife and as soon as arrived we asked for a glass of rose wine, and some more came during the entire dinner. The food is good, probably not the best i ever had, but very good. The cost, very very fair, which makes... More

Unless you can walk in here with very obvious signs of affluence, don't bother . One experience was enough for us, very offhand staff and service and all at a very high price.

Restaurant is in a very nice location, arriving in a castle still surrounded by water. We went there on a rainy Monday evening, early september and the place was quite crowded. It can be a good sign, and indeed it was confirmed by the quality of the place. We started with panfried scallops, tasting good but unfortunately a bit too... More
