i wanted to eat some Thai food and had thought of a place to eat but unfortunately it was raining and cold so i decided to stay in the mall and eat here > well would say the food was just average. the soup what I had was good but the main was just about as every mains they serve is fried and for me was not so good > the staff although was very good but for me better avoid to eat here nest time

There are quite some choices on the menu. The quantity offered is quite ok too. I just missed the more authentic Thai taste...perhaps should have asked... the taste may more suit the German plain taste. I would have preferred spicy and with the typical Thai ingredients. However, overall it was good.

By chance I discovered the Thai restaurant in the basement of the Schadow Arcades and unfortunately tried it out without first reading the rightly critical reviews here. The selection of Thai restaurants in Düsseldorf is very limited due to the Japanese dominance.
Unfortunately, it was a disappointment across the board. The blonde waitress came across as listless, could have been much friendlier and should have learned not to cough into her hand. Our GF ordered and took chicken spicy three times here. The whole thing was a test dinner for a catering.
The meat was black to dark grey in all three dishes, suggesting a very poor to objectionable quality. The chicken was really absolutely inedible. Plus incredibly tough and dry. We've never seen anything like this. We took pictures immediately because that impressed too much.
We're actually considering passing this on to the health department.

As many other restaurants they offer the magic "bowl" dish. Sorry, but I payed 15 Euro incl. Tip and it was a simple combination of random raw vegetables, some fruit and rice. It tastes like nothing and I can definitely say, that this was my first and last time at Buthai. It´s a rip off. Please take this advice from somebody that likes a good bowl dish.

We just passed by the food court in the Shadow Mall and after couple of days of Japanese and local food, it was time for a more punchy meal.
Service was super friendly. At the end of the meal, they made us a rose syrup/lychee cocktail that tasted great. The papaya salad had this typical yummy sweet/sour/salty taste with crunchy peanuts. The yellow chicken curry tasted fresh and the seasoning of the basil beef was spot on. The cooking style perhaps a bit adjusted to Western taste: the black beans grinded into a soft paste, the raw pieces of garlic and dried shrimp left out from the papaya salad dressing and a bit less fish sauce. We asked for spicy and got lots of chili, so good to taste on a cold winter day!
