Was here during Schnitzel week. Choice of 5 different types. After being seated first question is if we can confirm we want two beers... No, one and a wine which both were served quick. After ordering the meat we waited a few beers (small beers, only one size "Alt") and the meat was served. For me the wrong meat so... More

This is Düsseldorf’s oldest brewery. My brother, I, and a wonderful German friend of mine stopped here during our night of restaurant/hopping. We are not into clubbing, but we like really mellow, relaxing places to drink and chat. While the lights were fully on, it was still a great place. It was not overly crowded at this time; so, late... When in Düsseldorf, stop at one of the breweries and eat pork knuckle. As we'd had this recommended then we stopped here and did so. We ate on a Friday afternoon at about 6pm, many of the tables were taken but we managed to get seated reasonably easy. Service was very swift, beer was provided quickly and if you're ordering... The location is great. the food is very traditional and the beer was quite refreshing. Two points which disturbed me, the waiter kept bringing us beer without asking and acted offended when we asked him to stop. I mean I like beer but I'm not a mass drinker and didn't want to get drunk. Then, I find that weird that... More

Beer of course is a matter of taste - but if you are in Düsseldorf you need to drink the local specialty "ALT BIER". My favourite is Schumacher. There is a special version available as a take-away liter bottle called "1838" throughout the year. Three times a year on the third Thursday in March, September and November they sell a... More

Lovely old place to visit for some beers or to eat genuin german food. The staff will provide you with new glasses of well tasting beer as long as you want. I had lunch here two times. First time service was excellent, second time a bit more slow. You will get big servings of genuin german food.

Seems to be a legend in Dusseldorf, very nice atmosphere with two rooms the one with tables and the other with stands. I'not a fan of alle and for sure not the certain one. The service is fast and dishes are classic but a bit over priced. Question: the beer glasses are washed the same way (just water) all over... More

Very welcoming place. Lovely tasting alt. Great food, the Weinerschnitzel in paparika sauce is highly recommended. Pleasant surroundings, good service and a very nice beer garden at the back.

It does what is says on the can. Great traditional food simple but well prepared and good portions not for the Veggies or Teetotallers. Recommend the "Eisbein" and "Spatzle" accompanied by their in house beer "Alt" this is a very drinkable beer and you will not have to worry about having your glass topped up as your waiter is scanning...
