It was and still is an honour to be a guest in this excellent japanese restaurant. This is because, of course, of the excellent offered food. This also, and this is not usual, because of the excellent offered food for decades!

Went to Kintaro during the IMM exhibition in January 2016 fully aware that there are huge quality differences between eating Japanese Food in Japan or the US and Germany and our expectations weren't too high to begin with. While the Sushi and Sashimi were fine, the service of the owners and the meat items on the menu were not. We... More

Kintaro is a very authentic Japanese restaurant that serves very fresh and tasty sushi and some other excellent Japanese dishes (as well as a couple of nice sake's). The interior is classic minimalistic leaving the emphasis on the food's taste and visual qualities. Another great asset is that is was easy to re-order if you had anything you like to... More

We came here with a group of colleagues two nights in a row. As one of us was Japanese, he attested that Kintaro serves authentic cuisine and the chef is a really Japanese. The design is minimalistic, but what you should come for is the food! The sushi and sashimi are uber-fresh! The grilled dishes and rolls are so delicious!... More

I can understand some of the bad reviews here. I have eaten here frequently and am impressed by the toro sashimi, which is the only reason I go. Otherwise very average.

Because Momotaro and Sushi Nara did not have any open tables we ended up at Kintaro. First of all, you should know that the sushi selection is traditional (i.e. no uramaki) and somewhat limited because of this. However, there is a large choice of sashimi, tempura and so on. There are a couple of major problems with this place. The... More

I just recently had dinner at this restaurant and service was terrible. The waitress was not friendly at all and was in fact irritated by the fact that I spoke English and not German or Japanese. Wasabi and ginger is not given to you like any other Sushi restaurants. So, I asked the waitress for extra ginger and wasabi when... More

Second visit this year. Easy walk from the Dom. Run buy helpful English speaking German woman and her Japanese husband / chef. Good varied selection of the usual Japanese stuff. Tempura was softer and more floury than usual. Sashimi selection fresh and tasty. Nice sake and Kolsch on tap! Well worth the walk and will visit again.
