Unfortunately, I can't tell you how the food was. The waiter - old grumpy & unhappy - was so extremely unfriendly, we barely sat down. We were simply asking for a table. They were about to open, just 15 minutes away from opening time, yet the restaurTant was opened, there were even people inside filling a large table with approximately... More

Very nice restaurant. Big choice of regional german dishes. I recommend beef with green sauce. Very nice tradditional apple wine - Äppelwoi. You can seat inside or in a beautiful garden.

Great beer, really friendly. We arrived a little too early but by the time we had sunk a few beers it had filled up around us.

Was there with colleagues. The place got recommended to us but it was a big disappointment. The menu stated that the owner had changed a year ago and the recommendation was still based on the last owner. Interior was nice and cosy but the service was extremely slow, inattentive and unfriendly when you tried to order. Pumpkin soup was sour... More

We enjoyed a traditional German meal here on a 6 hour layover in Frankfurt - great atmosphere and friendly service.

The restaurant is located on the Alte Sachsenhausen area. The restaurant is not facing the street, but in an internal area. The food is very good ant the dish are generous and the price is balanced! Service is ok.

We came across this place while strolling around. I was looking at the menu & some locals said to me the meat us very good which was enough for me. We had a starter & the pork knuckle which was super. They have an extensive Apfle Wine menu certainly the best we tasted in Frankfurt. The atmosphere was very welcome... More

What I like most was the outdoor eating area. You're in a courtyard. This place is known for its pig knuckles which were tasty. The waiter was more than pleasant and the owner stopped by to ask if i was enjoying my meal.

Ate here based on reviews from others, and because it is close to our hotel. Attractive garden with long tables plus some inside tables. Most people seemed to be drinking apfelwein. We tried it in another place and here and don't care for it. I ordered a beer, they have one (count 'em) ONE beer. In Germany. It was good,... More

Description
Welcome "home" –Daheim-- at the Lorsbacher Thal

The history of our exceptional tavern dates back to 1803. Since this time the “apple wine dynasty” has lived and worked here. To this day, the building is still owned by descendants of the founding family.

In August of 2014, we (re)opened Lorsbacher Thal, as new tenants. In doing so, our purpose was not merely to operate an historical tavern, but rather to uncover and polish this gastronomical “rough diamond”, while retaining all of the warmth and charm of its historic setting.

As one of the oldest apple wine taverns in the city, our historic rooms have seen and experienced much. (Despite legend to the contrary, we have no record that Napoleon ever dined here.) It is both our pleasure and obligation, now as guardians of the tradition of the original tavern, to lead it to a memorable, successful future.

What does this mean for our guests? We would like to welcome you and take care of you - just like “at home” --Daheim. That’s why we chose this word, combined with the renowned phrase, "Lorsbacher Thal". In keeping with this ambition, our tavern has been decorated with historical family photos, art, books, magazines, games, lots of candles and cushions. We want to create a comfortable atmosphere in which you feel cozy.

Our guests immediately become our friends, who are that visiting us at home; sharing a superb glass of wine and getting something delicious to eat. This is what we treasured from our own travels around the world, and the experience we offer to our guests. You can take us and our team by our word; we are all here to take care of you. And — should it not be as we have promised — let us know. Only then we can continuously develop and work on our promises.

Take your time and enjoy our true, artisan cuisine, which has been refined with a contemporary twist. Everything is freshly prepared, with organic ingredients from the region! We know where our food is coming from. Antonio de Costa, our chef de cuisine, does not use any flavor enhancers, mixed spices or "prefabricated" ingredients. We always try to naturally enhance the taste of the original dish. This takes our team in the kitchen needs a little more time. But the wait is worth it!

Like any restaurant of distinction and ambition, we are immensely proud of our cuisine, while we remain intensely curious about our guests reactions to their culinary experiences Daheim. Should you not be satisfied with the preparation or the taste of a dish, please let us know. We embrace your constructive criticism! This is the only way to reach our aspired and lasting quality.

Thank you for visiting us and “Bon appetite”

Pia and Frank Winkler and our colleagues
