My husband and I had a lovely evening at MASH. The service was very nice (especially from the bartender who was explaining about the drinks and was in general lovely to talk to) and the design of the place is simply gorgeous. The food was good, but somewhat pricey. I think it's OK to charge more for good quality meat, but a simple leaf salad for 12 euros seemed a bit too much. All in all a nice experience for meat lovers.

The service was not acceptable for the price level. The tartare was good as a starter. The steak (from Canada) was very good, the side dishes were OK to good. The service was inattentive and poorly informed. In addition, the price was simply not what you would expect. What is the use of a large wine list if it is understood more by the customer than by the staff and no recommendation can be made based on preferences? I would recommend much better restaurants in Hamburg in this price category (more than 300 euros for 2 people for 2 courses, drinks and a bottle of wine). To set the scene I went with about 30 people from work and the table was booked in advance and all the meals had been pre-ordered.
Now the food was quite nice, especially the steak that I had, but the service was awful. It took 3 and a half hours to have the three course meal. I had been there 45 minutes before I was served with a drink, there were plenty of times when the staff came out with food and drink and couldn’t remember who they were for and I was half way through eating my main course and the staff were still bringing out the various side orders. By the time they finally got to serving the deserts, we had been there over three hours and it was too late in the evening for me to want to eat my desert.
Now I can’t decide if they were simply short staffed that evening or if the staff were deliberately going slowly to try and get us to buy more drinks. Either way the service was awful.

Fantastic food, wonderful wines and superb service. The Entrecote Bone-In is a memorable piece of meat, served to perfection. The Tomahawk for two, tranched at the table, will satisfy every meat lover. The wine-list is a winelover's dream.

Terrible experience. They served our food at another table and when they found out they took it directly to our table. We rejected the food as the other guests had touched the plates and they took it out but returned quickly saying it was new food but we did not believe, as it went too fast. They ruined a birthday celebration and we will never visit that place again. Worst service ever experienced!

This was a disappointing visit - despite a friendly service (although we must have had at least four different waiters drop by our table throughout the evening), the food was underwhelming.
The good news: frieds and tomato salad were really nice. Crispy fries and the salad with a nice touch of balsamico and crumbled feta.
The bad news: the steaks were a disaster. We had the Mash tour (three types of steak for two). The steaks were done nicely to the point (medium in our case) but were swimming in a lake of fat that was boderline disgusting but definitely not enjoyable. Also lots of chewy bits to cut away. And you have to remember: Mash charges you €160 for that!
Wines by the glass from a not very large but nicely diverse selection - the white (US/Chardonnay) was a bit dull, but the red (US/Cab) would have been a nice complement to the steaks - if we just had nice steaks.

MASH is most certainly one of the top Steak Restaurants in Hamburg. Friendly service, very high quality of meat served perfectly grilled together with a good choice of side-dishes. The wines are not bad either and can be ordered by the glass. A variety of Sea-Food is also available. I loved the Jumbo Shrimps fried in Garlic-Buter. The Canadian Ribeye was fantastic. The Creamy Spinach and Sauteed Broccolini tasted just the way I like them. Full points from me. I will be back!

I was with friends last Saturday evening at the MASH in Hamburg. It started with the reception putting us at the bar, because the table was not ready yet. The meat we had was of very good quality and tasted perfect. The service was also good. The shop itself was a little dirty. The lampshades on the tables were dirty, which is not very appetizing. The Ambitious is not a steakhouse for me, but that is a matter of taste. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is not right. I would love to give this an extra score or 2, but several times the service was missing (example, ordered a beer before the main course was served and it only turned up after the food). The food was outstanding, and the wine perfect. I feel I will try again but I see others say the service is bad so I hope they see these reports and improve. Visited MASH, Hamburg on the 21st. of September. Food/interior etc. quite nice.
When we asked for the bill – we found out that MASH forgot one bottle of red-wine (€ 85) on our invoice.
We informed the waiter that the bottle was charged, and the reaction was “ooh – I will just make a new invoice”
There was no thank you – or do you want a cup of coffee on the house – nothing.

Came by with toddler for dinner. Very spontaneous, but never mind, because the restaurant offers a lot of seats.
