If you're after an authentic taste of Germany you could do much worse than Franziskaner. We visited on a busy Monday night and although it took a while to get a table and the staff were really busy all night, we couldn't speak more highly of Franziskaner. The food - currywurst, pork escalope and apple strudel - was really nice... More

So this place is billed as authentic Bavarian food. I'm a visitor though, so how would I know. I can say that the food was simply, tasty, filling and satisfying. Both the meat lovers and vegetarians in our party found something to eat and enjoyed themselves. Not all staff spoke English, which seems remarkable in Germany, but then maybe we... More

Delicious homely food served in a cosy wood panelled, rustic room with great atmosphere. It was fully on a Monday night but we waited at the bar and easily got the free table. The menu is in German & English. The waitress couldn't speak English but was happy with our pointing and brought me a very decent white wine when... More

Went there 3 times, 3 different dishes and all 3 were amazing (6 little sausages, pork jelly and then the bigass roasted pork hog 'schweinshaxe' ). I cannot stay how much I enjoyed food here (Bavarian food) the mashed potatoes are out of this world and the meat is simply amazing. For the roasted porkhog, you have to be hungry... More

The location is central, the environment is decent and typical, the food is abundant with a very wide choice of local cuisine to choose from and the staff are friendly and helpful. We paid Euro 77 for two soups and two main courses including a Euro20 bottle of wine.

We were looking for good and impressive Schweinshaxe on this trip - hotel staff recommended this place and we love it so much! We each share half of the Schweinshaxe (cut up by staff there) and got to see the roasting oven. The Schweinshaxe is crispy and tastes great. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone. BTW: friendly staff!

Went here based on our hotel concierges recommendation. The food was only so so and nothing special. The presentation on the plate was non existent. Service was ok but again only basic. The one good thing was the beer but it didn't offset the mediocrity of the food.

It is so good to see the Bavarian chain restaurants finding homes all over Germany, especially here in the north. This Franziskaner was as good as the original in Munich, actually one of the best Schweinshaxen I have every had- crispy outside, juicy inside. The Hefeweizen was fresh and cold, the staff very friendly and happy to see you. I... More
