original veal schnitzel and salad were ok, but the served ''Bratkartoffeln'' were a disaster. how is it possible that an original Bavarian restaurant cannot serve tasty bratkartoffeln??? The potatoes were tasteless pre-cooked (pasteurisierte ?)potatoes without a shred of onion or bacon; although 2 pieces of...black fried bacon of 2 by 2 mm were found. A really big letdown for this `` Bavarian restaurant ''More

Nice place to stop for small bite and a beer after wandering about the city. Good service, and nice pork steak with potatoes - just enough food to split for a snack. Waitstaff was nice, we ordered in German. This place loses points because when...the check came, it had an ink stamp on it "Tip Not Included" which we found to be rude and somewhat dishonest. it was obvious that this restaurant has such a stamp for tourists, and more pointedly Americans or Canadians who at home tip 15 - 20%. We were told by our daughter who had spent the last 5 months in Germany to round up on small things like drinks, and then do about 10% or a euro or two for larger items, like a meal, but also that tips are not absolutely mandatory.More

Anytime I come to Hamburg I dine in this restaurant as well. Such a go-to. Me and my mates simply love it, the food is great and very typical, nice German atmosphere whether you eat in or outside, so close to the channels and the...city centre. Best combo = Miniatur Wunderland / Neue Philharmonie + Paulaner Restaurant Together we stand divided we fallMore

I’ve read reviews of this place that criticize the staff, but we had a lovely waitress who was happy and attentive. Obviously, good beer but the food was just fine (schnitzel). Seemed to be mostly locals there, and it was quite crowded, all good signs....Wee priced.More

Friendly welcome was great to have when just arrived in Hamburg. On a Sunday evening the dining room was quite full with a good "buzz" to it. The menu was thankfully not over complicated and the pork dish with red cabbage was a large portion...of meat. Good food and drink at a reasonable price, I left feeling very satisfied.More

Two visits during a stay in Hamburg. Enjoyed the beer and food both times. Reasonable prices and great quality.

If you like Bavarian food snd drink this is for you. It is typical of its kind. The service is excellent and the staff friendly and helpful when you ask. They speak excellent English if like me you don't speak good German.

My colleagues and I came here for lunch, the chairs were wet because it was raining a few hours earlier. So we took two paper napkins to soak up the water so that we can sit. The waiter ran out of the restaurant and told...us in a very angry manner that the napkins are expensive (???) and are not to be taken! Seriously? Paper napkins?! Later he brought us the menu and the food without a single word. When we said "thank you" for bringing the food - he didn't answer. Moreover, he didn't even look our way, and delivered the food while deliberately looking into another direction. My colleagues and I were in shock! How can someone like this work in service? I sure hope he didn't spit in our food. Just shameful! Regarding the food - paying 9 euros for a small cooked potato with some sour cream is unheard of. Stay away!More

Excellent and cheerful place for an al fresco lunch of good traditional Bavarian fare. Pauliner schnitzel for me and Kartofel soup with sausage for my wife. Washed down with a beer and excellent service. Recommended if in the area.
