God Schnitzel

Very nice typical German restaurant. Good Schnitzel with mushroom sauce, good Paulaner Schnitzel and okay half chicken. Nice place where we showed up 10 minutes before the kitchen closed and the staff were nice and happy to help. Would recommend if you are hungry for schnitzel!

original veal schnitzel and salad were ok, but the served ''Bratkartoffeln'' were a disaster. how is it possible that an original Bavarian restaurant cannot serve tasty bratkartoffeln??? The potatoes were tasteless pre-cooked (pasteurisierte ?)potatoes without a shred of onion or bacon; although 2 pieces of black fried bacon of 2 by 2 mm were found. Uninteresting and uninspired food.

The place was almost empty, but we were hungry, so in we went. I ordered knödel with mushrooms. Two tasteless tennis ball sized knödel were placed in an equally uninteresting sauce with mushrooms that might or might not have been canned before ending their poor lives. The side salad, though, was unexpectedly tasty. Had we been here for the beer only, it would have been a nice evening.

Bavaria is well represented in Hamburg with this restaurant. The decor fits well into sober Hamburg, the menu is versatile and offers Bavarian specialities. The price-performance ratio is absolutely right. The food was very good and the service on our two visits extremely friendly and attentive. Good beer, solid food, strange ink stamp on check

Nice place to stop for small bite and a beer after wandering about the city. Good service, and nice pork steak with potatoes - just enough food to split for a snack. Waitstaff was nice, we ordered in German. This place loses points because when the check came, it had an ink stamp on it "Tip Not Included" which we found to be rude and somewhat dishonest. it was obvious that this restaurant has such a stamp for tourists, and more pointedly Americans or Canadians who at home tip 15 - 20%. We were told by our daughter who had spent the last 5 months in Germany to round up on small things like drinks, and then do about 10% or a euro or two for larger items, like a meal, but also that tips are not absolutely mandatory.

Anytime I come to Hamburg I dine in this restaurant as well. Such a go-to. Me and my mates simply love it, the food is great and very typical, nice German atmosphere whether you eat in or outside, so close to the channels and the city centre. Best combo = Miniatur Wunderland / Neue Philharmonie + Paulaner Restaurant Together we stand divided we fall

I’ve read reviews of this place that criticize the staff, but we had a lovely waitress who was happy and attentive. Obviously, good beer but the food was just fine (schnitzel). Seemed to be mostly locals there, and it was quite crowded, all good signs. Wee priced.

A bright welcome on a dull night

Friendly welcome was great to have when just arrived in Hamburg. On a Sunday evening the dining room was quite full with a good "buzz" to it. The menu was thankfully not over complicated and the pork dish with red cabbage was a large portion of meat. Good food and drink at a reasonable price, I left feeling very satisfied.
