I’d reserved a table at Dressler for lunch as it came highly recommended – having eaten there I just don’t know why it was recommended, it was adequate but nothing more than a café bar with average food, the location is good if you are visiting the Brandenburg gate but there would be no reason to make a specific detour... Brekky should be easy, and so it was. White tablecloths, good ambiance, and efficient German service albeit in a French restaurant. Coffee was served with 3 minutes of ordering it. Tick. A full cooked brekky was served within 10 minutes. And it was really quite good. Substantial and well priced. Family of four feed for less than 50 euros. We... More

My train home wasn't until 1300, after a run in the morning sun I headed for a breakfast to see me through to late afternoon. I was not disappointed. The 'Berlin petit déjeuner' and a coffee was 12 euros. Cold meats, cheeses, Hama, eggs (how you like them), rolls and preserves, what isn't to love. High recommend

I have been here three times in the past two years for work-related lunches, and would describe both the food and service as okay, but not spectacular. The menu of traditional German cuisine is relatively constant, and I'd describe it as adequate.

I was delighted with the environment and menu choices in the restaurant. Incredibly friendly wait staff and chef who greeted us. We came for an early dinner due an early flight in the next day. We started with French onion soup, and both diner on steak and gnocchi dish. Lovely sides of potatoes and almond broccoli to garnish. We were... More

We sat outside to eat and had a couple of very good dining experiences over the past few days and I guess we were due a dull one. The food was just okay not great and I have had better from small street vendors. I had the schnitzel and it was tasty but no real effort just a plate of... More

Tired and hungry after our walking tour, we found this restaurant on Unter den Linden a short walk from the Brandenberg Gate offering a good selection for lunch to warm us up in a relaxed and comfortable surrounding. Food was good, service and value also very good.

After a long walking tour we had dinner at Dressler. An open, airy, comfortable spot on Unter den Linden. Service was friendly and prompt. We enjoyed the seasonal menu starting with a tomato mozzarella salad that was delicious. We shared the tartare appetizer and thought it was among the best we've ever had. The salmon was prepared properly and was... More

We were a group of four hoping to celebrate our first night in Berlin and staying at the beautiful Hotel Adlon Kempinski down the street. We were looking for an authentic German dinner. We walked in, and asked for a table for four. The woman at the door angrily yelled, "Only for two!," and shooed us away, as if we... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
