The idea is supposed to be "pay what you want" and at the begining you pay 2 euros fo r your glass. Unfortunately, the real situation is different - when you leave they count the money you give and ask for more if they dont think its enough, even though you might have given the same amount you will pay... The staff was the most unfriendly I experienced in Berlin. We just wanted to have a glas of wine. The two ladys behind the bar were kind of furious about our simply order: "The same one the people had before us". They said thats not acceptable in a Wine Bar. We have to say which one we would like. Both... More

I went there a couple of times with some locals and always loved it, but the last time I went it was very busy but it seemed like they tried to hussle people looking like they don't know the place to pay more making me (us) feel very unwelcome! I paid the 2 euros for the glass and donated each... More

Don't go to this place!!! The staff is extremely rude!! We ended up paying 50 euros for two glasses of wine! Bad wine! We payed 20 euros first but that they forced us to pay more before we were able to leave.. Extremely uncomfortable situation! It was a dark haired woman who was the meanest... Whatever you do in Berlin,... More

Was not at all what was expected from reading the reviews. Staff seemed quite clueless about not only their operations, but also about wine... Definitely not a "must-see" of Berlin.

This is a bar that relies on honesty. You pay 2 EUR to rent a wine glass and then help yourself to as many glasses of wine as you like. You then pay what you think you owe at the end of the night. The recommended prices to pay is 2-3 EUR per glass depending on what you are drinking.... More

Interesting concept: you pay once 2 EUR for entrance, drink as much good wine as you wish, have some simple dinner from the buffet (usually pasta or Eintopf dishes, salad, bread and sometimes delicious cakes), and at the end of your visit pay as much as you think it was worth. Great atmosphere, good selection of wine, cozy hipster interior.

If you like wine, authentic atmosphere, pasta and really good jazz music; just go this place, take your glass on 2 euro and take a seat. Just to know that in weinerei, music is over around 11 pm, so would be better to go around 8-9 pm. Thank you for especially jazz concert. It's so enjoyable and qualified! :)

I loved the concept of the bar, we were a group of 11 girls and it was intimate and alternative, we all really enjoyed it! Only issue was that I did reserve a long time in advance and when I arrived they had no record of it and were quite abrupt until I showed them the email confirmation, in the... More

Small place with excellent local climate. After 8 PM you pay 2 euro for a glass and then you can try as much different wine as you want. Food is also served, warm meals, snack and sth sweet as well! By the end you pay as much as you consider for the time spent in Weinerei. Great idea! However without... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
