I'd read about Burgermeister but never made it there on previous visits to Berlin - so glad we made the effort this time. Small menu well done and reasonably priced. We had cheeseburgers, fries and beers and enjoyed every bit of it. There's nowhere to sit - just some high tables and leaning stools - but it keeps everyone moving... More

Having come from London we have tasted a lot of very good burgers. Wanted to come here after all the hype. It did not disappoint. We happened to arrive as it opened so there was no queue. Uncomplicated tasty burgers. Great bun. Also had the chilli cheese fries with big chunks of meat. Best I've had. Reasonably priced. More of... More

I really expected more from these burgers. You wait a lot to get a burger, but the atmosphere is very interesting. The burgers were good, but not fantastic. If you are looking for gourmet burgers there are much better places in Berlin to get one.

I normally don't expect a great Burger outside the USA. However I was amazed how delicious this place was. I picked it for a few reasons, location hours and the other excellent reviews. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

We went there following the rave reviews on tripadvisor. Unlike some other top rated restaurants in Berlin, this one didn't disappoint. Great burger, good fries. I had the hausmeister and loved it. The burger buns were especially good. Only downside, not a great place to sit and eat. But that can slide given the good food.

The place is a unique little hamburger place, and the hamburger itself is a very good one. But to wait more then 30 minutes form arriving until ordering and another 15 minutes to the hamburger to be ready doesn't really worth it. So if there are not a lot of people or if it sunny and warm it is worth... More

A very unique, gritty burger joint with minimal standing/sitting places and queue but the queues go down quick and they have a numbered ordering system. Prices are reasonable. The cheeseburger and chilli fries were true tasty fast food without being overly greasy. I tried the tofu burger which was like nothing I've ever tried before.. In a good way. Something... More

While in Berlin with my partner for my 30th birthday I wanted to eat some of the best food the city had to offer. One of the highest ranking places and highly recommended for fans of street food and burgers was Burgermeister, an old restroom turned into a burger joint. From getting off the train we could see the queue... More

I loved every aspect of this place. The surly service. The large amazing beers. The gritty location. Don't miss it. Really.

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
