As soon as we stepped off the train after arriving at Alexanderplatz, we were hungry, we consulted TripAdvisor and came across this place. It looked like a nice day but it started raining during our 40 minute walk to Burgermeister, not a good start to the holiday. When we arrived, we checked the menu which is small but sufficient and... We went to the restaurant at Kottbusser Tor as it was closer to where we were staying and fancied a sit down inside. Amazing cheeseburger at amazing value. Less than 5 euro. The cheesy chips were pretty good as well. Not as good as Teesside cheesy chips but pretty good. The burger reminded me of how McDonald burgers tasted in... More

Cool place under the S-bahn line. Amazing burger although it was bettered by the awesome chilli cheese fries. Worth a visit.

Sat below the U-Bahn, roads all around... an interesting place to eat! The fact that there is a constant stream of people turning up and buying is a good sign. Fairly priced, good food in an interesting location...

This wasn't my first trip to Burgermeister, and in fact I make a point of eating here every time I'm in Berlin. There's nothing fancy about this place, just really great burgers every time! The chilli cheese fries are pretty good too..

This was the best burger I've ever tried, and I don't say this lightly! Although there are few seats and there is always a massive queue, the wait was worth it. The burger and chilli cheese fries changed my life! Can't recommend enough!

Went for lunch on a Friday on our way to the east side gallery, there was a sizable queue but it went down quickly enough and we ordered our food. It was done within 10-15 minutes but I can imagine it could be a longer wait when busier. We ordered two burgers and some cheese fries and they came to... More

When I arrived to the place I didn't expect much from the food, I couldn't possibly be more wrong! The burgers were great, the service was quick and the price was cheap (4€-6€). Overall just a great food experience!

This was the best burger I have had in Europe so far. The price is nice, the guys making the burgers are nice. I would go there any time. Highly recommended.

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
