Oh my God we happened to stumble across this place just before my friend had a show to play. It was so busy the queue was out the door so we thought this had to be good! We queued up and waited about 15mins before we got served which wasnt bad at all, they had a ticket system so your... More

This burger joint was once an old public toilet. Don’t think about it. The burgers and fries that are served today are really, really delicious! It’s an ideal stop after visiting East Side Gallery (the old Berlin wall remains) that is accross the river.

My boyfriend loved it but I wasn't convinced at all.. You have to wait a very long time (we were there on a Friday night around 12) and the place is quite dirty with overflowing trash. It's cheap but the meat was too fatty for my taste. Not really worth the long wait in my opinion.

Some of the best fries I've ever tasted in over 40 countries! Great real potatoes used and at a good price. I look forward to crossing paths again.

Best. Burger. Ever. We opted for the original ex-toilet building rather than their new outlet at Kotbusser Tor and the whole experience did not disappoint. Go!

We visited here over the new year period, and of course, due to this expected a high volume of customers and a long wait... An hour and a half at a burger van was NOT what we were prepared for however! We arrived at 7.30. We ordered and patiently waited 25 minutes before asking why it had surpassed 10 numbers... More

Fast and delicious; my 'meisterburger' was very enjoyable. This former public toilet doesn't look anything special and it's order, take a number and wait style of ordering isn't anything fancy - it's just a quick delivery method for some seriously tasty burgers. I arrived to at a fairly quiet time - combination of the rain and my arrival time between... More

You like burgers? Big M or fresh? Big M or tasty? Big M or fair priced? Try Burgermeister, THE Burgerplace in Kreuzberg, right underneath the railroad in a former public toilet. Nice people, great burger choice and a special atmosphere. Take Metro U1 to "Schlesisches Tor" - its right across the street. Price Cheeseburger: €4

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
