The pizza is really good. But besides that everything is rather horrible. Getting drinks takes ages, unfriendly staff, way too packed so it is more than noisy and no space around the table! Asking to have some noodles as a takeaway was not possible. "Only pizza" -but why? Makes no sense besides a bad mood from a customer!

Since I moved in around the corner in 2010, Casolare has become a second home. Excellent every time. Very difficult to choose between Ortolana, Incredible and Buon Gustaio. Every time. Ortolana usually wins. Thin crust, crispy, juicy grilled vegetable topping, fresh buffalo mozzarella, preceeded by a couple of cold Konigs Pils and accompanied by a jug of house red. The... More

The food is absolutely superb. The dough of the pizza is just as perfect as it should be and the tagliatelle with lamb were as perfect as you would expected them to be in a nice rustic Tuscan trattoria. The prices are very reasonable. The only thing that was not as good was the fact that the stuff were not... More

Third time's the charm. Two years ago we visited Il Casolare twice, this year we decided to come back. Authentic, real Italian pizza with thin crust, thin layer of toppings (but oh the flavours!!) and size even Romans would envy. The service, well, we arrived at 21 on a winter Sunday to an half empty restaurant so the service was... More

If you want to eat a "kind of " Italian Pizza, you are in the right place. Pizza in Italy is different, but this pizza is not bed. If you don't have big expectations, it's ok.

Previous reviews differ wildly, I can only comment on what I experienced which was super pizza served with a smile and at a perfect price. Even on a wintertime Wednesday lunch time it was busy with locals so clearly they know a good place when they see it. It's typical Berlin tatty but if you're bothered about food rather than... More

Our regular place for pizza in Berlin, it is as good as it can be outside of Rome with place being all Italian. To be honest it is even better than some of pizzerias we visited in Italy.

Service is a mess, the time waiting is not worth it. If you ask to the Staff or even the Manager about a problem with the food the way to answer the customers is a bad joke, really rude mode. The pizza is not so good like you can expect... There are near in the area much better Italian places... More

I am a huge fan of pizza, ever since I have moved from Brazil I couldn't find a good pizza place in Berlin. But this one is amazing, the flavor is memorable, service and price are good as well.

I always go to Il Casolare on special occasions, not because I can't go more often (i live just around the corner) but I don't want to spoil it, I want it to be something special that I'm looking forward to! Their pizza is so great and tasty, perfectly thin and crunchy...specially with their spicy oil, just don't take too... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
