We came here at the Easter break and had a very enjoyable dinner. The design of the restaurant is fresh and spring feel like. Comfortable and pleasant to the eye. The waitress was very friendly even though we arrived later than booked and were the last ones to arrive for the evening. That made no difference to the service. She... More

It's hard to name a fav in Berlin as there are so many choices. but based on their treatment of vegetables and there excellent wine by the glass, Alpenstueck goes to the top of my list. A quiet, minimal interior. Helpful, unobtrusive service from a knowledgeable and friendly staff. A short menu that changes regularly. A superb place in Mitte

Although there's not a lot of choice on the menu, what there is was delicious. I had the best veal schnitzel I've ever had, and the entirely German wine list was fantastic.

7,5 € for a bottle of water, no red wine bottle under 31€. It is not decent for Berlin. The food was ok, starters really fine but main dishes too much heavy.

Poor menu even for me(I like 2 page menus) We all had snitzel(what else?)and ravioli with salad. It was just ok.Portions were big though. The water was overpriced. The place is modern and smart looking

We didn't book, but got there early - lucky as it filled up quickly. Friendly and efficient service. Very interesting food, German nouvelle cuisine - highly unusual mixtures of tastes and of flavours that worked really well. A little expensive, but, for what it is, worth it.

We ate at Alpenstuck on Boxing Day, on the recommendation of the Adlon Concierge. The menu was creative modern German, the service and food impeccable, the atmosphere exactly the sort of casual and friendly place we were looking for. The wine suggested by the waiter - we're not expert on German wines - was just what we were looking for,... More

This restaurant was recommended by a Berliner. The food was tasty if a little overpriced and there was a good wine selection but our waitress was rude and inefficient so unfortunately that ruined our dining experience.

Alpenstueck was recommended by the hotel concierge, and we were not disappointed. It was thanksgiving so we had wiener schnitzel in lieu of turkey. The appetizers and main course were well prepared, ample portions, and served very nicely. Service was friendly and helpful, and the tables were not crowded. they had a large wine list and plenty of good German... More

the restaurant was advised by the reception at Hotel Mani as we craved for a true German culinary experience. That was exactly what we got! The menu is based on traditional German food but with a modern twist. Freshly baked bread, quality ingredients, tasty combinations, just excellent in every way. Even the prices were very reasonable. There is also a... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
