The staff at this particular Vapiano are downright rude. Nor were they interested in explaining how the self-serve card works as a first time customer. When asking the bartender to clarify if they had regular coca-cola (which apparently they only serve at the pasta stn, not the bar) I was told "no, do you not understand English?" It was rather... the concept is a little weird - instead of having a waiter, you get a card and stand in line to one (or more) of the cooks - depends if you want Pizza, Pasta, lasagna or a drink. you pass your card and it loads what you ordered to the card. after you eat - you go to pay for... More

I can not give my opinion on the food. Simply, I could not taste it. Is understandable to wait a little if there is so many people, but more than 30 minutes is ridiculous ( given the type of restaurant). The staff is not friendly at all and they barely explained us how the restaurant works. Skip it, really.

I had the worst experience at Vapiano. I has tried this pizza in Sydney and loved it! When I came across it in Berlin I was so excited but it was terrible! The pizza has a terrible taste, they have the worst customer service. I asked for a half margherita and half pepperoni and they only gave me pepperoni and... More

Confronted by the façade of this huge building, which, innocently enough, promises "pizza, pasta and antipasti", you could be forgiven for thinking you were about enter a restaurant. Unfortunately you would be gravely mistaken, for as soon as you set foot in Vapiano you are in fact transported to a living hell. On entering we were confronted by a large... More

We went to a restaurant for dinner . Serving style is self-service , so probably not for everyone . We ordered two pasta dishes . It was nice, not very sophisticated but nice.

This Vapiano restaurant is a bit hidden but once you find it you have a great place for an italian dinner. With your personal pass you can get pizza, pasta, desserts, drinks... They prepare everything while you wait and watch. They have a nice terrace. Cheap food but good quality.

Do come near during the rush hours (which is almost always). The ordering procedure is very complicated and the waiting time is very long. The place is crowded and it's hard to move around.

I like the place and I like the way they make the pasta in front of you, it's like tapenyaki. Staffs are unfriendly and overwhelmed . If you are not familiar with the restaurant, it's a bit confusing. They should have someone guiding the guests especially the tourists .

If you have eaten in this chain of restaurants you will know what to expect. Past, salads and pizza. However, coming in early evening there it was disappointing to find out they are out of some ingredients and desserts. Place is modern, with terrace in courtyard.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
