This is a wonderful restaurant that we have been to on several occasions over the years and it's a restaurant that gets better and better. This is a lovely traditional restaurant ,you descend down a small staircase that leads to a lovely multi roomed interior with photos adorning the wall's and various bric a brac around the restaurant and a... After a day on Museum Island, we stopped in to rest and have a beer. This is a comfortable, cozy bar and a pleasant place for a Grambrinus dark!

Gambrinus Trifft Baccus is located in the neighbourhood area of Berlin called Mitte and is a very authentic German Restaurant that serves a fine food menu and also an excellent drinks range.Located in an area of Berlin that is full of restaurants this one in my opinion was one of the best we went to as the meals were excellent... The food taste like school canteen food. They charged me EUR$2 per head for service fee which is rare in Berlin/Germany. Two glasses of sparkling water (150ml) cost me EUR2.5 each. A few tables were reserved for tour groups.

Nice, quiet spot for a lunch break. Traditional German and I needed a proper Jager schnitzel. With typical sides, the main was priced at an even Euro 15, plus Euro 1.90 for beverage, meal totaled Euro 16.90, service not included. A really happy meal. I was the only American there. Other diners were German as were the staff who were... More

We met family members here for dinner and had a lovely time. There were 6 of us, including 1 Vegetarian. All of us had great meals. The service was accommodating and pleasant. They served many different types of schnitzel dishes. Very interesting menu. Ambiance was very comfortable.

Nor the taste or the presentation of the food is nice. Rather expensive and overall very disappointed. There is a much better German restaurant 1 minute away. Try the orange cafe.

We were looking for somewhere for a drink and we stumbled across Gambrinus, we ended up visiting it each might of our stay. The owner could not have been more helpful, a lovely chap. We will definitely visit again next time we visit Berlin.

We were looking for a traditional German restaurant for our last evening in Berlin and we were very pleased we found Gambrinus. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived at 7:30 but it was Sunday and freezing cold outside. More people arrived later. We were warmly welcomed and offered a choice of tables. We wanted a German beer to start... More

Highly disappointed!! As I say this restaurant came highly recommended. Meatball was fine and the boiled potatoes. Sauce extremely salty and the vegetables were awful. Maybe we caught them on a bad day?

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
