Just behind the Opera house, Entrecote is a nicely refined french restaurant which focuses on good food. The classic menu (salad, steak and proper french fries) is good value and definitely filling. And they have a great selection of wines and the usual display of french desserts. Friendly and smiling service!

This is a very good, French cuisine, restaurant in the heart of Berlin, one block away from Checkpoint Charlie. We visited for a business dinner for 10 and found that the food was really excellent. On the night we were there, however, the service was horribly slow and order taking often inaccurate. Worth trying once more before writing the place... More

Really good restaurent situated on a quite street just around the corner form 'Checkpoint Charlie' with seating inside and out. The choice of menu was good and the staff very friendly and polite. The service was relaxed and the atmoshere very good; seemed to be a lot of locals which is usually a good sign. The carpachio as a starter... More

This is one of my favourite places to dine in Berlin and I have eaten here many times over the past years. The atmosphere is lovely, many of the waiters also speak french. I have never been disappointed with the food. Regardless of whether you have fish or classic meat dishes the quality is always excellent. Definitely try the salmon... More

For the one that knows the so call " bouchon " from the city LYON in France you will find the same kind of environment in this restaurant... Now the most interesting for us is the food and the offering..... And I should say that there is enough choice for everyone ....the food was really tasty...fresh vegetables and not from... More

We had loved this restaurant on a previous visit to Berlin over 10 years ago. The ambience is still right out of Paris, very, very French, and very much to our taste. We met a group of fellow travelers from the States and they loved their dinners. We were not so fond of a cheap cut of steak. But the... More

We had a reservation at 7:30. We ordered appetizers and some drinks. They were all great. We then ordered our mains and a bottle of wine about 8:15 . About 15 minutes after we ordered a tour bus of about 50 people arrived. We remarked that we were happy that we orders already. But we were wrong. About 45 minutes... More

Of all the various restaurants we ate at during our week-long stay, this was far the best. Expensive, but not the most expensive. Good menu, great service, very pleasant environment.

Just down from Checkpoint Charlie, across from the Currywurst Museum, you will find Entrecote. Four of us had a wonderful meal after spending the day on our feet. One of us had the lamb and shrimp dish, two had steaks, and one had chicken. We all had salads and two desserts. Wine is excellent. Service was thoughtful and appropriately attentive.... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
