Service is terrible. We went on Sunday morning and waited an hour for our food then gave up. Returned Monday evening (it was beside our hotel), service was slow again but since it was empty, it was ok - you could go and get the waiter if necessary Cappuccino was quite decent, cheesecake quite inedible but the chocolate cake was... The dishes are OK but they are way too expensive considering their quality. The service is rude -I would even say extremely rude in some cases- and very slow. The place is wonderful and you can enjoy a cafe in one of the best locations of Berlin. That is simple wonderful and worth visiting at least one.

It's actually difficult finding authentic German food in the centre of Berlin but this place serves some huge portions of meat with authentic accompaniments, great beer and value wine. We ate here twice and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's not easy to find for tourists and was mainly full of locals of all ages. Loved the atmosphere and the young staff... More

One of my favorite haunts during the summer months.. Great bavarian beer, great pizza and grill dishes and a fantastic location. it's a self serve place so nothing to say about the service. The owner also has one of the top dining addresses here in Berlin. He's no rookie. beautiful place in the park near the Siegessäule. You can walk... More

With the beautiful setting and nice decor I was hoping for much more. We went with friends to have early lunch on Sunday. After decision have been made that we are staying at the cafe, things got from bad to very bad. We waited about half an hour for the table to be cleared, another 20 minutes to get the... More

We happened upon this place in passing. It didn't look like much from the outside but as I was in need of 'conveneience' we popped in and were very pleasantly surprised. We sat outdoors near to the lake. It is a fabulous wooded setting, at least on a sunny day. The place was very crowded outside and this seemed normal.... More

I have been there 2-3 times because I love Tiergarten and I like this location. The scenery is beautiful and so ideal for a drink or coffee but the service is poor so it doesn't worth to do much. The food is average and very expensive and in my last visit I started doubting the hygiene of this place. I wanted... More

My wife and I really enjoyed our multiple trips to Cafe am Neuen See. Having a beer and a bite after visiting an amazing zoo and walk through the beautiful tiergarten (Berlin's main park) was a great way to spend a day. And the outdoor self-service area adjacent to the restaurant, which I believe is only open on Saturday nights,... More

Lovely rustic cafe/restaurant in the tiergarten. Cannot understand the previous reviews, can only presume these people didn't know that you are expected to just take a seat In berlin and call the waiter over. We had walked through the tiergarten and stopped here for lunch. It runs alongside the zoo. We had two pints of beer and a pizza each.... More

This was our least favourite place to eat in our 6 week trip (including nights when we ate microwave meals), gorgeous setting but we waited 45 mins to be served, the cafe was understaffed and we were essentially ignored until we went to the self serve area where we were able to order some mediocre German food - (the pretzel... Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
