We chose to eat at Sucre ear Sel based on reviews, it is a little way from the centre but easy to get to on the U Bahn and it was worth the effort. Staff were friendly and attentive, food was excellent and reasonably priced. We heard a number of French voices amongst the diners so we felt that if... More

I'm french and a regular during lunch time. For 7/9€ you get your meal served with a drink or the daily soup which never disappointed me. The service can sometimes be a bit long but always very friendly. I usually take the steak haché but also tried the chicken breast and salmon, always very tasty and in big proportions so... More

Found this restaurant based on previous reviews. No reservation and restaurant was busy, however after a short wait of 10 minutes we had a table. Friendly staff, lovely food and good wine. Would recommend and very happy with the service, worth a visit if you are in the area. Tarte tartin was a favourite if you have sweet tooth!

Very tasty chicken sallad and pizza! Good service. Thanks to the waiter that recommended a great wine. Cosy interior. Nothing to complain about :)

Showed up to the restaurant without a reservation when they were super busy. Rather than turning us away they told us they would get a table sorted if we came back in 30 mins which they did. Portions were great, the food was absolutely delightful and it wasn't very expensive. The services was also really good and the staff took... More

We arrived and were shown to a table for two. A few minutes later we were given menus. Then we were ignored until after 30 minutes we decided to just leave. We did not even get asked if we would like to order drinks. Just as well, as the couple next to us were waiting for their drinks which were... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
