Nice place to chill and have a great meal. I usually have the chicken salad. It is really good. Have tried the other meals too and all are very tasty and worth the dime. Well priced. Good for sundowners as well. Location is by a small park which is nice to take a walk around. It in a quiet part... More

During my short stay in Berlin I was surprised by the number of small 'pubs' throughout the residential areas - and most of them seem to be located on a corner. From my observations, it seems these places are very well attended by the locals - with few foreigners. The Meta Cafe provided a good selection of typical German meals... More

Yesterday i did dinner with my girlfriend, the plates are very big, a lot of food, and very good flavor... the only thing is the price of the drink. It's not like the food's price. It's a bit expensive. But is a very nice place!!!!

We walked up this way to get ticket to a concert and ended up dropping in for a espresso and a beer. Loved the cosy feel of this place and planned to come back that evening for the concert but it was packed and could get in. I loved the tiny doors to the bathrooms

I believe that I have the correct place here whilst writing this review. Whilst visiting Berlin we first went here for breakfast as recommended to us but they were not serving it that day and we were not hungry enough for a different meal so just had coffee. The staff were very friendly and the atmosphere of the place was... More

Candlelit, warm atmosphere with beautiful wooden decor. Service has always been great; not only fast but also extremely polite. Menu has a wide variety of German/Austrian dishes. Go for the Schnitzel with Bratkartoffeln and creamed mushrooms: delicious! Also very spacious, so has never been too loud or busy. Location is only a (max) 15 min walk along Gleimstraße from U/S-Bahn... More

Like a few previous reviewers we were aiming to go to The Bird for tea but hadn't booked and soon realised we'd be waiting around for a table to accommodate the 6 of us. The Bird's staff recommended Meta up the road and we weren't disappointed. The staff we very friendly and happy for us to attempt to order in... More

We were going to the bird for dinner as we had read good reviews however it was rammed and people were waiting for tables, we decided we didn't want to queue so were standing wondering what to do when we noticed some tables outside further down the road near the park, this turned out to be meta café. The staff... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
