Candle light and a Thursday night buzz led us to this place - snagging the last table without a booking at this intimate restaurant Family run by a superbly communicating team, the offerings were typical Italian fare, and we opted for crispy, thin sliced pizzas coupled with an elegant Sicilian red, recommended by our skilled host. The tables are close,... More

I live around the corner and this is my favourite for genuine Italian food in a cosy atmosphere. The restaurant is so small, the kitchen is in the dining room. I tend to go for small dishes, beef carpaccio or fish of the day. The taste is always great and the foccacia is the best in town. Also good value... More

A favorite in Mitte. Changing menu with seasonal offers, wonderful homemade pasta and good pizza. Great little place with the friendly owner on the floor... Only be prepared to wait if busy as the kitchen is super small, but it is worth it!

This is in our top three favourite Italian restaurants in Berlin and it's near us so a definite favourite. Small, simply stylish, really good food - absolutely love any of their seasonal truffle pasta dishes and the antipasti starter plate with a bottle of Nero D'Avola is perfect to share. We come here a lot and love the personal service... More

What a lovely little place, great service, fantastic food. There is just a small menu but still enough options to chose from. We went for some saltimbocca and the grilled calamari. The patron cooked the food himself and it was great seeing im work in the open kitchen. Wonderful.

Food was absolutely amazing and you can see on he plate that it is self made and with love. The selection of pasta is amazing and lacks nothing. Also they change the varieties here and now which makes it every time something special. The owner also knows his wine and is a great host for every dinner.

I dined at this restaurant with three friends twice last week. Our first experience was superb with four excellent meals, a great atmosphere and good service despite the restaurant being very busy. Whilst on our second visit three of our meals were great the fourth, a rump steak, was tough, full of gristle and quite simply inedible. When this was... More

Came upon this by accident - kinda tired of asparagus. The starter - vegatarian antipasti - included for 21.00 a very acceptable bottle of Nero D'Avalo - white wine if preffered. We than had two pasta mains, penne arrabiata and Capellacci (ricotta? stuffed pasta parcels) served with a walnut and asparagus sauce....it was GREEN asparagus! This we followed with two... More

I had at Poveracci better meals than I had at any restaurant in Italy! The Pasta truffle oil is just amazing! A must try if you visit Poveracci

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
