Culturally and historically significant with a fun, warm and authentic atmosphere. Good food, great beer, fun parties, safe location and pretty good wait staff. Prices are accurate to the value and there is even something for vegetarians.

Never had such good pork crackling! It was amazing! It's really authentic from the waiters in their lederhosen, traditional music set in the bavarian style beer hall. If you're looking to do it like the locals then here is the place to be!

Probably a place you'd most associate with visiting Stag dos or lads nights out, but as 2 couples visiting we still enjoyed it and we did see families and other couples there. Food was for me surprisingly nice, as a place you'd expect to just turn food out to people who had drank too much and would eat anything not... More

Hofbrau is our favorite spot in Berlin. Fantastic beer and food. We were there several times during our stay in Berlin. The service is good. We did not have a reservation and were lucky enough to find a table. Must visit spot if we will travel again in Berlin.

Good food, plenty of beer and some good old fashioned German entertainment. The Hofbrau is a typical bierkellar serving reasonably priced food and good beer. If you're hungry try the pork knuckle, it's huge! Get near the front though or you won't hear the band!!

Came here everyday of our 3 day trip to Berlin. Good choice of beers. A bit more expensive than other pubs we were in but you get what you pay for! Entertainment at night was great. Had the sharing platter and was lovely.

I went to this restaurant because it was well rated at TripAdvisor. Maybe we were unlucky, but I was not impressed with this bar/restaurant. First we asked for a menu in English and the waiter rolled his eyes (really bad behavior). Then, my friend asked for the number 21 in the menu and the waiter answered: This is not a... More

On a Saturday evening, the Hofbrau was packed with people, but we were squeezed into the middle of a table-full of strangers, who just shuffled along to make room for us, and we didn't feel that we had intruded. The waitress, Ela, was kept very busy but was friendly and helpful. Although it looks like a modern, concrete building from... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
