We have been here in augustus when it was really busy. Everything was excellent, waiters, wine and the food was excellent. Never had such a good lamb!

Maybe my SF Foodie sensibilities had me entering with too high an expectation or we ordered wrong but I was disappointed with the food at Lokal. The artichoke soup, I thought, was great, my son was not so hot on it. So after a great start I was expecting more of the same. Service was very friendly and if not... More

We ate here as we had heard that the food was very good. Fortunately Lokal was a short walk from our hotel. It was a balmy summer's evening and we were directed to an outside table. Ten minutes passed, then fifteen . . . . twenty. No menus, no cutlery. No waiter/ress. I went in and got menus. At last!... More

Lovely little place with a small menu but it's so good. We had the wild boar which tastet very nice. We sat outside and had great service.

Adds to the feel of being in BER is like visiting French Concession in Shanghai. Good everything. BER has a lot of vibrant free market economy born great restaurants.

Pasta was good. The other main courses were average. The decor and layout was simple and unassuming. Great for a date or a big party.

The food was excellent, ambiance great but service slow. We liked it but noticed that some other guests were getting a bit impatient by the lack of service. The food is great and the wine list a bit more interesting than normally. Reservations are a must as even on a Monday night this place was completely full!

This is a "foodie" type restaurant with daily menu changes and lots of local ingredients. The prices are reasonable (16-22 Euro for a main course) and the staff are friendly and helpful. They are known for the quality of their meats. Call for a reservation because it gets full.

Saw some pictures passing on Instagram and got me interested. Busy place when we approached but luckely there was still a place outside as it was warm. One waiter was helpful the others were somehow bit more typical Berliner....bit grumpy like. Staff was slow on this warm sunday evening...but luckely we had the time. It is a bit more pricy... More

We really enjoyed our stay during our christmas business dinner. The dishes were great, especially the earthy, very seasonal flavours, and the meat and vegetables of very high quality. The wines are very tasty and the atmosphere is relaxed, comfortable and very chic! It wasn't my first visit and it won't be the last!

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
