Unassuming and low key place with typical heavy European food. The best bit is the good vibes...and the free bottle of vodka for the table.....!!! Worst bit...monday hangover.

I have been a couple of times to Matreshka, blinis are ok, pelmeni not that much, the special tea with mermelade is quite interesting. I guess I just can say that the food and drinks are ok, but for the price they do not reach excellency.

Te place is nice, the dishes are really big and super tasty. I discover this restaurant and I come back twice in the week. Vodka shots are from the house, included in the price. Super friendly prople, nice and polite. A must in Berlin!! 🇷🇺👌🏼🇷🇺

Great restaurant with excellent service! Our tourguide recommended this restaurant, and I am glad he did. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was good and the half Russian/German guy took really good care of us. If you go here, definitely try some vodka (Ask for the Ukrainian).

I had gulasch, which I would not order again. Even though I always have rather small portions, the gulash plate was even for me very small. I was still hungry when we left. Pelmeni was good. A friend did not like his "wareniki with sauerkraut" much. Other 2 friends enjoyed their "oliv'je salad" and "paprikaschote"; no surprises, at least for... More

i took me some time before I decided to put a public review of this restaurant... Sometimes the small "gems" are best when hidden! :-) In a nutshell this is a perfect place for an affordable and tasty (although not the best in town) Russian meal with friends. I would not recommend it for business purposes but it's awesome for... More

sorry to admit, but it was definitely not the best russian i tried in berlin..Dacha cafe is much better.. but for sure - homemade drinks and pelmeni are worth trying, but a bit overpriced in my mind (( simple interior , reminded me of university canteen in russian uni))

I mean, what more can you ask for? try the potato Schnitzel one it's a killer, and try the salmon pancakes with vodka as a starter. the food and the service are great, the prices are ok. and you will enjoy a treat of lovely shots for free.

Pelmeni and beef Stroganoff were awesome, tastes exactly like at home. Will definitely come again and try more. The waitress was also very nice and attentive.

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
