We found the place by accident after heading to a place near by. On our walk back we could hear the piano outside so thought we would pop in for 1!! We found a table by the piano which was lovely. They had a long cocktail list and I had a pina colada which was one of the best I've... More

The staff are wonderful and friendly. I am the type of person that likes that likes to try recommended drinks, or drinks created for me. The staff were all very knowledgeable of what spirits are served and the quality of each. The atmosphere is romantic with candlelit tables and inviting with a fabulous pianist. This place is one of my... More

We came across this bar by accident exploring Berlin on a snowy evening. We loved their art gallery of copies of well known Monets, Gauguins and, of course, Van Goghs, but most of all we loved watching the world hurry past shivering while we thawed out with the bar's lovely gluhwein.

The food was quite ok, but the vicious waiter just walked out of bad movie and was very rude! Food within 5 minutes when ordered, drinks in 35 minutes when ordered, no desserts but the waiter told us after 40 minutes when will waiting on the desserts. The bill was incorrect and asking the 'manager' for this he showed us... More

Attractive riverside bar that is not too noisy or busy. Liked the dark and traditional decor and the beer. Had a pianist the night we were there.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
