I spent a week in Berlin and this was the most traditional restaurant I ate at. We showed up on a busy night but were seated right away. It seemed like we were the only English-only speaking folks in the place, though we all tried our best German. But when the very nice waitress realized it, she quickly gave us... More

This is going to be a different kind of review of mine, more like a trilogy, since I'm about to write 3 reviews about my 3 favourite schnitzel restaurants in berlin. You should check out 2 other places: dicker engel and arema. This is a real traditional german restaurant, serving food and beer and has this traditional german touch. What... More

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is that the servers are pretty strict. I overheard the table next to mine also giving warning to their friends. My advice: know what you want and keep it simple when talking to the servers. The polite way to say it is that they're known for 'speaking their mind'. Everyone has mentioned the good... More

If you in Berlin and want to try local beer bar then this is right place for that. Very delicious meals and nice beer. Most important that it is price wise very attractive. I got Cutlet "humburger" it is just lovely.

I visited with 10 family members on a Friday night. We booked only a couple of hours beforehand and they just managed to fit us in, despite the place being reasonably busy. The decor and food are very traditionally German, and the customers seemed to be mostly locals. The portion sizes are enormous - some in our group weren't able... More

Visited this on recommendation of a local friend. Just a short walk from Charlottenburg station this hidden gem offers German food how their grandmother's make it. Portions are big and the food is not expensive. I would love to eat here again but I am on a diet! Meal for 3 with wine and beer was €30 I will have... More

While in Berlin, my wife and I went to Thomas Eck for dinner. This was the best choice of the whole trip. The food is authentic German, made by some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The wait staff was excellent and very friendly. Everything on the menu is great. You will get giant portions for inexpensive prices.... More

This restaurant is in a very quiet area of Charlottenburg, and there is no better place to get the feeling of being with the"locals". Everything is down to earth, from the service to the choice of food and drinks. Be warned, the portions are enormous. The quality is outstanding and the whole vibe is what I would expect to be... Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
