Mt wife and I have tried for 4 days to get a seat for dinner. Right near the M4 metro stop, easily accessible. Finally, yesterday, even though all seats were reserved, we were able to dine. Kalb Wiener Schnitzels are amazing, light crispy batter, evenly...More

A little restaurant on a side street off the main drag, this is a superb German/Austrian restaurant with tasty local cuisine. The restaurant itself is typically understated but the staff accommodated us very well, providing us with English menus and speaking decent English, while putting...More

My husband and I hadn't decided yet whether to eat at Alt Wien or just have drinks. We went in to have a look around and immediately got told that we'd have to sit outside as everything was booked up. (we weren't asked if we...More

Great variety of traditional food at this cosy restaurant. I've seen a few critical comments about the service but I certainly didn't experience that, the waitresses were very friendly and attentive.

...it's one of those amazing places that take you to another city without even moving. The schnitzels are authentic HUGE at Alt Wien and they taste just perfect with the fresh cucumber salad and potato salad on the side. BTW this restaurant also serves the...More

Came here for dinner, specifically for the schnitzel. It can get busy, so be aware of that. My husband and I each ordered the schnitzel, which seems to be the favorite item among everyone- we saw a ton of them come out the kitchen. We...More

This is a great little gem of restaurant with delicious food. The schnitzel is so big, it doesn't fir on you plate, so bring your appetite. That is obviously what we had and it was perfectly fired golden-brown and tender. My only regret is that...More

I absolutely love a schnitzel and the one I had here was out of this world. First of all its size was somewhat intimidating. It was getting on for a foot across and easily larger than the plate it came on. It was the perfect...More

No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change
than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists
that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in
the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip
crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were
once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall,
there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have
been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays,

Description
Fred Koller, well known in Berlin for his austrian cuisine, and his partner Sibylle Hassfurther opened the restaurant ALT WIEN in September 2010. There you will find the best Wiener Schnitzel or Tafelspitz, and also a menu of austrian specialities that changes regularly. We recommend Kaiserschmarrn and a Melange after dinner!
