Our local last in November and December last year, when we had just moved to Schwedterstr. Fantastic location with huge windows to watch the world go by at corner of Kastanienalle and Oderbergerstr. Excellent service and great music. We were mainly there in the evening for a beer or glass of wine, but occasionally for breakfasts which were stupendously good... More

It's really worth going here just to enjoy the experience of how utterly utterly awful this place is. The night we were there they had only nachos despite the menu showing sandwiches and antipasti. The staff were very friendly but were obviously hobbled by grossly incompetent management. The cafe was also really noisy inside and several of us left hoarse!... More

We ended up stepping in here out of the rain and should have trusted that the dingy, dark surroundings with sad, limp old cakes was unlikely to deliver anything great. We ordered the French breakfast, basically two croissants and fruit with hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was Euro 3 so expectations were high, it is just a cheap powder with... More

We stop the this place to have a lunch but it as not possible so we ordered a breakfast. We waited more than 45 minutes for the breakfast (slice of cheese and Salami) we had to ask several time to be served. It was supposed to be a quick lunch before a bike tour and it became a long breakfast.... More

Trying to find a smoke-free bar can be a challenge in Berlin; we frequently leave a really cool looking place because we can't do with the smoke. The Awesome Berlin site lists smoke-free bars. Anyway, Cafe Godot is well placed on the corner of Oderberger Strasse and Kastanienallee, so you can eat on Oderberger and come here for a drink,... More

We walked in for a brunch. When we asked for a seat the waitress rolled her eyes and told us to seat whenever we wanted. After waiting for over 10 mins, we asked for a menu to the waiter. He slammed it on the table without saying a word and went. We got up and walked away.

I've been there for breakfast and our experience was not pleasant at all. We ordered a Mixed breakfast and scrambled eggs. The meal was ok but the service was awful. The waitress was really slow, we had to wait more than one hour to eat. Only for the coffees we had to wait 20 minutes. I think they totally forgot... More

We had been having a wonder around the Prenzlauer Berg district of Berlin sampling some of the wonderful pub's,bar's and restaurant's in this very lively area when we chanced on this cafe. We walked in and we were warmly greeted by the staff were we ordered a Berliner Kindle beer each. Our beer's arrived and they were spot on,served iced... More

After leaving Prater Garten&Gaststätte we came across this good cafe located in an area full of good pubs and bars.Cafe Godot is a fairly large establishment that is L-shaped inside with a good bar and bar area and has good seating options'it is sparsely decorated and has great outside seating. When here we opted to sit outside as it was a... Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
