We visited this restaurant last week, the food is traditional, the quality was excellent and the portion sizes were generous. I am very happy to recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Loved the fun atmosphere, the obvious blending of Berliners and tourists, the terrific pork knuckle with cracklin' and the location. It was my first experience with German fare, which I liked, but my husband was transported back to childhood with memories of his Grandmother's dishes. It was pure bliss for him! The beer was also 'wunderbar'. Fun place to start... More

Standard reliable and affordable Augustiner chain in Berlin Gendarmenmarkt - can't go wrong. The usual quality Bavarian menu: Schweinshaxe , dumplings etc, great beers.

Based upon Tripadvisor reviews I chose this restaurant for lunch and was unfortunately very disappointed. While I had an excellent glass of helles pilsner, the food was close to terrible. My wife had the turkey salad, which had some tasteless turkey and virtually nothing but shredded lettuce as the salad. I had the curry wurst with pommes frite. The wurst... More

The atmosphere can perhaps be best described as fun, and the beer is very good. The restaurant was crowded and we had a table for 12, with some of us coming and going as the night went on, so it was probably hectic for the waitstaff. The waitstaff wasn't warm and fuzzy, if that's important to you, and the locals... More

Since I am from Bavaria I know good food, I know Hofbräuhaus and all the rest. In Bavaria I was never so fond of going to Augustiner, except the Beergardens of course, but after a while in Berlin I started craving some bavarian delights and me and a friend checked out Augustiner for some late lunch. Service: dressed authentical but... More

We had a wonderful lunch there, good old Bavarian cuisine, very friendly personal, English speaking, great menu, traditional Bavarian beer, direct opposite Berlin and French Cathedral

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
