Safe bet if you are after German food and Beer. They device is attentive and swift, the beer is good. The food is good, but it is your typical heavy German stuff. The meat loaf burger is actually pretty good. Some liver in it, but not too much. Nice thing is the 6pm wooden keg beer serving. So we would... More

We asked at the hotel where can we go to have a traditional German dinner. There are many places we were told but we settled for Augustiner. Why? It sounded like what we wanted, in a walking distance...what else did we need? Getting in you're immediately set at a table. If not in the main area there is a "secret"... More

Ate here on a family trip and the venue is a pleasant setting with (I assume) the idea of a traditional venue. The service here is friendly and not rushed and the food was enjoyable but in hindsight not the best choice for children and the menu is restricted. There is a good range of beers available and these appear... More

Great place to hang out in a real bierstue, great service, and all I can say is that the beer was wonderful and the pig knuckles looked impressive.

We went here just to get a feel of a local German bar with food. The bar was really busy the night we went but we're giving a table very quickly and the service that we got from all staff that night was brilliant. Food was really enjoyable and a really great buzz about the bar. Highly recommended for a... More

This restaurant was recommended by the reception of our hotel near the Gendarmenmarkt . With a group of friends, we went there to try and we loved the atmosphere since we came in + our waiter, the food, the beer . Had a wonderful time. I went for the goulash that was too delicious. Definitely a great restaurant !

We wanted to experice some typical food while visiting Berlin, and I must say this met our expectations. We came back twice so we could taste most things on the menu. Everything we had was fantastic and beer was great too

Nice place, very good customer service, great typical german food and beer. Share the port knuckle but it is worth trying and can't loose their delicious "Kaiserschmarrn", leave some place for it, perfectly caramelized served with very good plums and vainilla ice cream.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
