The service in the restaurant was indeed fast. It, even, gave me filling that the food was prepared in advance and reheated just before serving. Anyway the meals were tasty, the beer cold and the personnel kind and smiling. Perfect place to eat and feel yourself in Bavaria

Nice Bavarian style beer hall in Berlin with outdoor seating available. The service was very good as was the beer.

This Bavarian style restaurant and bar bristles with atmosphere and good food. Very busy in the evenings we decided to go for a late breakfast of weisswurst which, according to tradition, should be eaten before 12.00 noon as they contain no preservatives. The Augustiner's traditionally dressed waitresses serve these fabulous white sausages in a classic tureen of hot water with... More

Great beer, authentic food - enjoyed sitting outside to enjoy it all. Location is great for watching the world go by ... Literally. Our waiter was great - made sure we knew exactly what my husband was ordering (evidently not everyone is a fan of the white sausages!).

We were there with 3 other couples and we all had one of the various sausage dishes. Everyone loved what they had, and loved the pretzels that came with them. The ambiance was wonderful. We were at a round table for 8 that was inside but with open doors to the outside. Best of both worlds! Service was excellent and... More

had this recommended as somewhere to get hearty meat dishes. Service was ok... place was hardly busy as it was 3 pm and well past any lunch hour! We were too late for lunch daily special menu and had to go a la carte, I chose rough meatloaf with egg on top and potato salad. The meatloaf was the furthest... More

Augustiner am Gendarmenmarkt is a good restaurant, with plenty of options to choose from. I've eaten there because i had been to the one in Munich; apart from the fact that i like the bavarian dishes a little more, Augustiner is a great place for a meal in the center oj Berlin.

Located next to the sofitel, this restaurant is situated in one of the nice parts in the mitte area. We sat outside overlooking the square. The service was excellent, there was a large variety of food to choose from and the food was delicious. My wife had the schnitzel and i had a vienese chicken which is really chicken shnitzel.... Our tour guide recommended this restaurant to us as the "place to go for traditional German food in Berlin". I'm glad we took his advice as it was fantastic. Served by staff wearing traditional Bavarian outfits and recommended a wooden barrel beer, we were set. The vegetarian selection wasn't massive but I had the asparagus ravioli and my only regret... Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
