Sarod's is in a lovely part of the city. It has seating inside and out and the service is great. Authentic Thai food, balanced flavours and nice and spicy. We had soup, green chicken curry, pad thai and a squid stirfry. Everything was delicious although the squid was a tad tough but not terrible. Highly recommended.

What a find - in one of the side streets of the funky Kreuzberg area, off the beaten tourist track. Friendly, efficient service and superb food. Great selection of quality wines as well. Will definitely be back before we leave Berlin

I was surprised by the delicious and authentic Thai food at this hole-in-the-wall! The spicy Tom Yum soups are to die for, brilliantly spicy and tangy as the way they should be. The same goes for curries, which don't pull punches in terms of flavorful spiciness (and not merely adding more chilli flakes, as in US restaurants). You get all... More

I visit Berlin every year on February for the Fruitlogistica Fair. And for the last 5 years we always have a dinner at Sarods. It's nice to see that they keep up with the quality of food. We are usually between 6 and 10 persons, and we try every year a variety of different dishes. And so far we never... More

Great restaurant! No wonder it's considered one of the best in Berlin! Service was excellent! All the staff were attentive to our requests. Every dish ordered was well-presented and exquisite. The shooters offered as we were leaving were a nice finishing touch

Really friendly service and nice starters. We paid 50€ for a bottle of wine, water, two starters and two small dishes. Definately worth it! They have lots of choices and everything was really tasty.

GREAT restaurant in the Kreuzberg neighborhood. Best to make a reservation. Large menu. A bit of a language barrier with our waitress, sorted out by a more seasoned waitress. We all enjoyed our entrees and I was able to eat GF in this restaurant. We would MOST DEFINITELY return when in Berlin.

We ordered a curry and green papaya salad for take away. Staff was friendly and service was quick. Food was tasty and spice level is adjustable but we like spicy and it achieved this!

I had a soup and the mixed starters. The soup was ok. The starters comprised three deep fried dishes (which was not clear from the menu) plus steamed pork in banana leaves. Not a very attractive composition anyway. The pork was not of good quality, and all items were pretty oily. The deep fried tarot root was so stale I... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
