All I hoped for came out during lunch at Tim Raue. We chose from the lunch menu 5 courses and were amazed by almost all of them, in particular the pike perch with 10y old soy and ginger and a few of th dim sum as well. In general: very expressive flavours, although I had meals in similar level restaurants... More

My husband and I did the tasting menu and the wine pairing and it was amazing. They have a separate vegetarian tasting menu which they clearly put a lot of thought into. I think what we were most impressed by though were the wines - they were all delicious and paired perfectly with the dishes, but there was one the... More

We had a nice 4 course lunch. There is a fixed price menu which is fair. The food looks great, everything very esthetic. Service is fine and casual in a way, as is the decor. We really liked the langoustin and I had a slice of a fine steak, too. Some of the dishes (the pork for instance) are less... More

This is not a good restaurant if you have any food restrictions. They were totally unaccommodating and I could only eat three things on the entire menu, and my daughter who had a nut allergy didn't fare much better. YThey said we should have told them in advance but despite making the reservation and taking payment to hold it they... More

We had lunch there. I expected more from a 2-star Michelin restaurant. My sole point of comparison is a 1-star NYC restaurant which was more impressive. The place doesn't "look" like a fine dining: simple decor, black t-shirt waiters. We took 6-course menu: "goose liver" was excellent. Prawn was OK dim sum chicken was good dim sum duck was good... I came to town for 24 hrs to take my friends to dinner at Tim Raue. And it was the best meal I had this year. We didn't order the 6 or 8 course menu like everyone else. Instead we order 8 a la carte dishes from both menu. Which made the experience more amazing. Our server Paul was very... More

A wonderful dining experience --however, it is not a phenomenal dining experience -- the Tim Raue take on Peking Duck is just dull as was the short rib --the langoustine by contrast was the best I've ever had -- staff was efficient but not overly friendly -- phenomenal wine list

Really brought back memories of Japan. Good Asian-Fusion food. More modern restaurant. In a low key area of Berlin. Nice restaurant with visibility the street. The restaurant has a very casual vibe. I was dining by myself and the staff was very accommodating. Had the opportunity to pick some great courses and the meal was expediently served. The cuisine is... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
