Me and my friends came into the restaurant and as soon as we sat the waitress was looking at us like we were a problem. The water was so expensive and the service was so horrible that we decided to leave. Worst restaurant I have ever been to.

Small enough that it can fill up unexpectedly, so you might consider phoning ahead to book a reservation ( Figure about Euro 20 per person. Good atmosphere, generous portions and a genuinely happy meal! You'll need to speak at least a little German if you wish to communicate with the staff.

Really beautiful traditional German restaurant. We were lucky to find it and try its great meat specialties!

Nice environment, the food was ok but nothing spectacular, the personal very polite and friendly. The prices was very high probably because of the location!!!!

Fantastic, quirky little restaurant but the best meal we've had in Berlin so far. We both had the special platter which was pork knuckle, ribs and steak plus cabbage, fried potatoes and sauerkraut. The meat just fell off the bone and melted in the mouth. Fantastic. Plus two bottles of superb Riesling, Apple strudel and a couple of schnapps and... More

We ate here on our last night in Germany and wanted traditional German food. We were a large group of 9 ladies who were accommodated fairly easily. The food was absolutely delicious and the service very friendly. There was lots of choice on the menu, Currywurst, liver, Scnitzel, lamb chops were some of the dishes tried and all were excellent.... This restaurant was just a short walk from our hotel, we had just arrived earlier that day and liked the look of Zur Rippe as it was very traditional. We ordered schnitzel which was tasty but very greasy, my husband had the beef goulash which was overshadowed by a pile of overcooked sprouts! Our 6 year old son had the... More

Situated in Nikolaiviertel, one of the oldest and prettiest parts of the city, Zur Rippe is a fairly unassuming little restaurant which we chose on the strength of the TA reviews. It is surrounded by many other eateries and is an excellent area to come for an evening meal followed by drinks. On entering the restaurant we were pleasantly surprised.... More

Traditional German restaurant with many local dishes at reasonable prices. Good no fuss service and nice atmosphere. Recommended – will visit next time I’m in Berlin.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
