We stopped here for a quick drink after lots of walking. The outdoor terrace is more secluded than most and the service was friendly. Lots of people eating and the food looked good, and I noticed prices seemed very reasonable.

The food was pretty good. Nice variety and all. We got no attention from waiters and waited for the check for more then 20 min. I never seen anything lime this where we asked for the check several times and didn't get it while other tablea did.

We stopped for a lunch here when rain started while we were walking from one museum to other. This was a good selection for sausages and beer. We enjoyed with food and also friendly staff.

The Nikolaiviertel was full of people this evening in May 2016, so I had to search a bit before finding a place to eat. I got lucky, though. I had the Gulaschsuppe as a starter. This was very tasty, and rich too. As a main course, I had the Champignon Steak, which I also enjoyed. Together with a litre of... More

We chose this place to experience some old school authentic German cooking and because I love weissbeer. The service was quick and attentive - nice. The food was of varying quality. I can recommend the eisbein - if one is not unsettled by a pigs elbow served still with skin - the Berlin platter, however, was quite dry and boring.... More

After a day spent walking around the sights of this wonderful city we followed up on a recommendation given to us by our tour guide and decided to dine at the Alt Berliner Weissbierstube. And what an excellent choice it was. Having lived and worked in Germany many years ago I knew the type of restaurant I wanted my wife... More

This place is a real gem, definitely worth going here even if far from your hotel cause delivers real value. All dishes are nicely prepared meat and sides to match cooked to perfection and very well balanced and combined... Interior is also cute and in the warmer season you can enjoy an outside table.. The food takes a while to... More

Went to the Alt Berliner on my last day and had the Meat Loaf with mushrooms in a creamy sauce and it was delicious. Staff were very friendly and although it was a late lunch the place had a lovely atmosphere. I can image it is brilliant at night. Very reasonable prices and the lunch was an ample size. Shame... Really good traditional German cuisine, with great service. The beer selection was excellent and we'd recommend the pork!

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
