The food was great - we had the goulash soup, the German potato soup, saurbraten, veal schnitzel and apple strudel. All were superb. The service could have been better - there were only 2 on the floor, but on their defence, it was early for dinner and it had just started raining - which probably lured a lot of people... More

For our last night of a three trip through Europe we went to the Gasthaus Kromback for dinner. We were greeted immediately and given a nice table. Both of our dishes were excellent and were matched by the service. Had to pass on dessert because the portions are very generous. Very nice end to our stay in Berlin.

Wanted to find a typical German place for an evening meal so we went for this one. Turned out to be quite good. Didn't much like the fatty garlic starter, sausages were ok and the chips could have been better, but all in all, that's Germany today. We had wine by the glass to taste various, and finished with a... More

We went here after reading reviews on Tripadvisor and seeing that it was quite close to our hotel. The staff were very friendly and there is a great atmosphere. The food was very traditional and was delicious! We were really full afterwards but still had to try the apple strudel (totally worth it!). Service is quite slow but the restaurant... More

My friend and I arrived at this restaurant finding it a short walk from our hotel. We wanted traditional German and that is exactly what we received. My friend enjoy the currywurst that was delicately spiced and I had the pork with cabbage, both were absolutely delicious and very welcome after a long days walk! We both enjoyed desert, although... Serving a Bavarian beer as its house staple is the only un-Berlinlike aspect of this traditional venue, close to the Ku'damm, but far removed from Ku'damm prices. This is as close to pub grub as this part of Berlin gets. Try a proper ( and properly huge) Wiener schnitzel plus trimmings for 15 Euros a pop and great draught beer... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
