We were staying at The Berlin Grand and found this little bistro just round the corner. It was busy (which is our code for "good") - and it was! Friendly and cosy, with a mix of modern German / European fare is well worth a visit. We didn't manage to get an outside table under the shady vines, but the... More

Wonderful little bar, staff very friendly. We had a cheese platter and pro secco. Reasonable prices and quirky decor. Would definitely return

In an area with only a few places to eat this is a little oasis. We had an enormous sharing platter of cheese, sausage, ham, pickles, stuffed dumplings. The prices are very reasonable and the setting is picturesque. Very good selection of wines. Try to snag an outdoor table under the vines.

According to the recommendations I had made a reservation and it is true. The very small restaurant was completely full. It feels very home-like and the interior is rustic. Wine and other bottles are lined up in shelves and the mix of different kinds of tables made it a charming place. My friend and I ordered Flammkuchen, which took a... More

We stumbled on this while looking for a non-huge restaurant in this oh-so-corporate part of town, and felt lucky we did. The wine bottles on the shelves have prices, so you can buy them to take home. Or you can order them with your meal, and pay more than double—which we did. It was worth it! Pizza, salad, pasta, all... More

Friendly service, great food and an extensive wine list ensured an outstanding dining experience. Had it been opened on the weekend, we would have gone back,

Looking for dinner in Berlin, we found this cozy local restaurant on a small street. Excellent location centrally located. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a nice lady at the bar. We did not have a reservation (which I suggest) but got a table anyway. Very nice wine selection and good menu varied choices. Service on... More

Super atmosphere, filled to the brim with locals - and tables... Welcoming and nice service. But - they're so busy they forget at least half of what you ask/they promise... Small menu, but what's there is ok Small wine list, but they have lots of great bottles on the shelves. Ok prices

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
