Berlin was born from a couple of villages on the two sides of the Speer river. This restaurant is old as the city, and you can really feel it, located in Nikolajviertel. Old furnishings, heavy wooden tables, nothing is posh, and the food is so great. Try the smoked fish tartare and then go ahead with one of the typical... More

Small restaurant but with a nice ambience. Seating some what limited but the food is pretty good . Tried the sausages And boiled pork knuckles. Servings pretty big and had a challenging time trying to finish the servings - waste not want not . Somehow, beer helps and take the opportunity to try a few brews. Service is ok -... More

The last day of our trip we wanted to try some traditional Berlin food, we tried a recommendation of a friend first and it was booked out so we landed here and we were so pleased we did! The building is beautiful with beautifully painted roof and old bar, the place was lit up with little candles and decorations for... More

We visited Berlin for yet another year of pre- Christmas market fix! Berlin is brilliant at this time of year but by consequence it’s very very busy. We have visited this restaurant in previous years and thoroughly enjoyed the experience both food and ambiance. We usually stay at the excellent Radisson Blu and it’s an easy and pleasant walk across... More

Since it was ranked high on Tripadvisor, we walked all the way to this restaurant from the Dom, the building, decor etc... is everything you expect to see - very beautiful. The food was ok - I had schnitzel, which was good, just good. If you are crazy about your Austrian style Kalbs Schnitzel like me - no, this is... More

Arriving at around 7pm I would have expected to wait for a table. Instead, we were sat on the end of an already busy table - incredibly this just worked and added to the experience. Zur Gerichslaube plays well on its 750 year history - the dining area is just beautiful. Food is traditional fayre, well presented meat feasts everyone.... More

The pickled large Berlin Style pork knuckle is very tasty. The restaurant is in an old church like building, eating inside having strong sense of history. Highly recommended!

Restaurant was absolutely charming, service was a little lacking compared to other restaurants in the area. Food was good and plenty of it. You can do better in the area, but not a bad place overall.

The food was amazing, really nice place to eat! Full of locals so you know it's good. Would recommend booking before you go as we just managed to get a table. Staff are really friendly as well!

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
