Very nice cose small restaurant. Excellent servicr and setup. Great food and good beer. Not even expensive. Very good value. Highly reccomendable. Would also suggest reserving a table in advance as the place is small on the inside and many were being turned away dur to space constraints.

Aside from the food, the most amazing thing about thing about this place is the history. The building is a former court house which was used in the 13th century. The food itself was delicious and old value for the huge portions offered, I will definitely visit this place again next time I'm in Berlin.

Cosy little restaurant with German food. Pork dominant menu with great sausages and roast pork all very flavorsome and just the right portion size. Their own brew beer was also good.

This was by far the best Restaurant we have visited during our one week stay in Berlin. The building and interior decoration is fantastic. The service was good. The dishes were delicious, fantastic and in good portions. Everything we have tried was excellent but the liver plate and the lamb leg plate were the best we have ever tried. We... More

Easter weekend in Berlin and we wanted to get a classic German meal - only one as it tends to be heavy fare. The building is quite classic - like an old pub with vaulted ceilings. Rare in Berlin which specialises in awful 50s & 60s architecture, mainly (but not only) courtesy of DDR The menu has all sorts of... More

We were agreed that we would eat German on our last night in Berlin and with an appointment to see the dome of the Reichstag, we needed to go somewhere within a reasonable travelling distance of that appointment. The husband had done his on-line research and identified Zur Gerichtslaube. It looked all right from the outside and so we went... More

I booked here for my husbands birthday and would have to say that although the setting and staff were really nice, we both found the food quite average. There was also a party of students eating when we were there and the noise was considerable!

Topical German restaurant. Quite wide menu with mostly meat dishes, but also sone fish. I found food quality average, but I rated 4 because I particularly appreciated the value for money.

This restaurant is an excellent place to eat after a day sightseeing in Berlin. The building is several hundred years old with decorated vaulted ceilings. The menu was typical German and quite varied, and service was good. You should try the slightly sweet dark malt beer brewed specially for this restaurant.

Very old building that added to the atmosphere. I had a local traditional sausage dish. It was actually how I expected it to be but really delicious tastes. Excellent draft beers.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
