Arriving at around 7pm I would have expected to wait for a table. Instead, we were sat on the end of an already busy table - incredibly this just worked and added to the experience. Zur Gerichslaube plays well on its 750 year history - the dining area is just beautiful. Food is traditional fayre, well presented meat feasts everyone.... More

The pickled large Berlin Style pork knuckle is very tasty. The restaurant is in an old church like building, eating inside having strong sense of history. Highly recommended!

Restaurant was absolutely charming, service was a little lacking compared to other restaurants in the area. Food was good and plenty of it. You can do better in the area, but not a bad place overall.

The food was amazing, really nice place to eat! Full of locals so you know it's good. Would recommend booking before you go as we just managed to get a table. Staff are really friendly as well!

I'm italian, but it was fantastic. As beer lover I have appreciated the Kitchen, but also the exclusive(in the world) beers of this restaurant.

After stumbling upon this restaurant by accident it is now up in the Top 5 all time restaurants we have visited... The building is absolutely stunning. Original features gel effortlessly with more modern essentials ensuring that the atmosphere is old, rustic and cosy at all times! We are traditional German cuisine. The food isn't fancy (think venison cuts, fluffy mashed... More

Visited recently whilst on a short trip to Berlin. Thought the food was really good, service was first rate and the beer excellent. The restaurant is small but has a nice intimate feel. the atmosphere was relaxed, the building itself is stunning. All round our experience could not have been better it was excellent value for money.

Historical building in Alexander Platz. It was very authentic with very local types of food in an intimate setting.

Its very old restaurant but still maintained so well. Nice interiors. I understand that this restaurant is 750 years old but still it has charm. If you want to go then take advance reservation otherwise you have to wait. Services are fast. We ordered black german beer & I liked it. One must try desert & spirit was really strong.

I found this restaurant while walking around the Nikkolai church. As i love everything old, i decided to give it a try. Excellent service and very good food. Totally recommend it for lunch or dinner if you are in the area.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
