We decided very spontaneously to join the cue at Mehringdamm luckily we had been the two of us so we could spend the wait to chat. It was definitely worth waiting for this super fresh and yummy Döner Kebab but for me it was a...one off.More
I know this kebab for many years because I often ate it during my Erasmus 8 years ago. Taste hasn’t changed - that’s fantastic. Unfortunately price is higher - what I understand in these days. Queue for 1,5h is not nice but we’ll... it’s worth...it when you visit Berlin from time to time.More
Kebab was good, had a lot of really nice stuff in it, however, if I'm completely honest, I don't quite understand the hype about it. Waited in line for almost 30 min, and although it was tasty, not sure that I would do it again...or recommend it to someone.More
Hype. Hype. Hype. Write it into, what is it called, Globetrotter Funky ImPHONIAC, whatever, and they all stand there like sheep. I liked the DOneur, but it is not SOOO soso special. It is good. I liked it. No time for queues, though, even in...Corona times. But splendid Doener! Greetingz to the makers from Etsy! <3More
Taste is good, but we had to wait 1.5 hours in line. You get to line thinking it is not that long, but after some you realize that it is slow as some people order in big quantities as take away. We decided to wait...longer as we were already there and hungry. Again, taste is good but definetely not worth the time and effortMore
We visited on 13th of July, the line didn't look too long, we estimated not more than 30 min. Unfortunately there are people ordering big quantities, so the line can be much longer in practice. After waiting almost 1.5 hours we managed to get our...kebaps. Taste is quite ok, but nothing special, and not worth such a long wait.More
Having passed Mustafas a few times on numerous visits to Berlin, I've often wondered if all that waiting could be worth the fuzz.
One lucky morning on my last day in town, right after checking out of my hotel, I passed it again, and there...was only a small line around 11.00 am . A few hours since breakfast anyways, and here was my lucky shot. So I made a choice, and finally decided to get in line myself.
The total waiting time was around half an hour. Not sure what to expect I ordered the gemüse kebap, and the waiter explained to me nicely, that if I wanted meat, I should get the hänchen (chicken) instead. Otherwise I would have gotten - only fried vegetables. This was new knowledge to me, and mighty nice of the guy to take me by the hand like that. Ironically fried vegetables also appeared to be the secret ingredient of the chicken döner too, as they add some of that to the mix along with the chicken meat.
I must say this part works rather well. The vegetables are juicy, and tasty, and work well with the meat. However, no real special sauce, or bread, or anything else for that matter, is present in the concept. And the usual hour long wait, seems based on not much more than hype.
I asked a fellow customer what was so special about this place. He answered - "nothing". I asked if there really wasn't anything extraordinary about it, which he denied, and concluded it wasn't better than a lot of other places, but it was great marketing, that made the difference.
And if there is any truth to be found in that - it's the speed at which the service is carrying on. Looking at the number of people waiting really ! - And there's not a pinch of stress to be found among the service team (of two). One of them mostly deals with customers, and the other in the kitchen. They don't seem to be thinking much ahead, and just go on at an extremely dull pace. Pretty stupid, unless the humbug is all about making people wait for long deliberately.
I've had many other döners that were better, and took a lot less time go get my hands on.
Not worth the wait.More
