Service was alright, although the waiter didn't really pay any attention to us. The food wasn't good though. We ordered the pork cotelet with fried potatoes. The food wasn't warm at all and the potatoes were way too salty like they spilled the salt grinder on them. We expected more taking into account the many good reviews and score this... More

Go here when you like schnitzel and meatballs. The menu actually gives you no other choice but they know what they do best. The location is unpretentious and not very cosy but for a quick good diner definitely go here. The friendly staff is just an extra!

Had a late lunch here with the family. A simple menu yet served generously and fresh. Place is somewhat a pub ambience and quite tight in terms if seating area but doesn't matter. What they serve makes up for everything! Would definitely come back when in the area again.

First night in Berlin and I was lucky to find this place. Real german atmosphere in a very simple restaurant. Great food and good prices.

What a very bad trip.... the manager is agressive and arrogant. He seems to hate foreigners. He started by throwing the menus over the table... Nice starter. Then he brought his food, nothing special and very "regular" food. At the end he threw the hand-written bill. He threw back the note... as he doesn't take credit card neither EC cards... More

The restaurant was only a few minutes away from the hotel I was staying in, and as I had read that it was small and popular I was worried about not getting in. Luckily I must have been there early enough, as there were plenty of empty tables when I arrived, but it did fill up very quickly later. The... More

My favourite place in Berlin. Very old fashioned and poor shape but the atmosphere is outstanding!! For me it's more attraction than the restaurant but I love this place very much. Visiting that few times a year since 1999. Close to Potsdamer Platz. A must visit!

We selected the Stadtklause because of the many good reviews claiming to have the best Wiener Schnitzel in Berlin. Upon arrival we found a truly old fashioned place with well worn furniture but not without charm fully packed. The service was overwhelmed but still efficient but not overly friendly. We figured out ourselves which table was our the one that... More

We visited this restaurant on a, Thursday evening. Full of locals who made us feel very welcome. Generous portions of food, great beer and a warm friendly atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit.

We are so pleased we found this place. We were looking for authentic German food and we found it. Delicious rissoles, schnitzel, fried potatoes, eggs and pickles. Simple decor but excellent food, quick service and good prices. We would definitely come back for more!

Thank Pippa R

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
