This Italian restaurant is very close to the museum island, the portions are very big, the ambiance of the restaurant is very grandious with a awesome painted ceiling. The staff is very attentive and the food don't take long to arrive, prices run on the moderate side, dinner for 4 people with a bottle of wine + appetizers + 4... More

While walking around the neighbourhood we bumped into this and another pizzaplace. At the other one the chef was standing outside trying to get us in. We really did not like this style and moved on. Before he started his pushy talk we were planning to go in. So we walked on to find this place (12 Apostel). The place... More

The menu has plenty of vegetarian options and the food was delicious with generous portions. Reasonable prices, too. We didn't book, but that was not a problem. Out of the two, I liked the one at S-Savignyplatz better, nicer atmosphere, but naturally, that is subjective. One point taken off, because at the one near the Pergamon Museum there was no... More

After a evening visit to the pergamon museum (absolute must if you visit Berlin) we went to the nearby 12 Apostel for a pizza. Finding the entrance is not easy but the pizza is excellent. Make sure you have time because we were hungry and had to wait long (at least that is how it felt) for our pizza. Also,... More

We enjoyed a very nice late lunch at 12 Apostel. The restaurant is a large, high-ceiling pizza place with a nice bar and pleasant ambiance. We were surrounded by many folks just like us passing through as tourist families. The wait-staff handled a wide range of languages with ease and were used to catering to families with children. They did... More

I liked the pizza. Friendly service, too. They found a table for me even though there were lots of people waiting and I didn't have a reservation.

Don't expect a traditional German Gasthaus appearence here. While quite nice, the 12 Apostel is first of all a pizza place in a spacious location just between the Hackesher Markt and Friedrichstraße S-Bahn stations situated in the S-Bahn viaduct. OK food, OK prices and a nice central plase for large group if you don't expect intimacy.

Visited the 12 apostel for lunch and had what makes the place famous - the Pizzas. The size of them seems to be of the OMG variety. But don't be too scared, the crust is thin and light and the dough thin too. So that large Pizza is a lot more manageable than it seems. The restaurant itself is big... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
