The Yama is located in the wonderful Prenzlauer Berg and the restaurant is pretty unpretentious. We visited on a beautiful summer evening and ate at one the tables outside. The sushi was very nice and very affordable. For 4 people (2 adults + 2 children) we paid around €45 including drinks which is very reasonable for sushi. Would be happy... More

Excellent sushi for a very good price and really cute decor. The happy hour is very good value. I wish this restaurant was in the UK...

I eat there at least twice a week. The quality of the asian food is really high and the prices are fair. The lunch offers are also very tasty, I eat regularly curry-coconut milk sauced salmon for the lunch. For dinner I have either sushi or Seafood Udon. The staff are very friendly, food arrives before you realize it, you... More

I am a big sushi lover and this place passed the test. I come here at least once a week for sushi or sashimi. The restaurant itself is quite basic, so I prefer to sit outside. Good service, nice waiters. Happy hour (12:00-16:00 Mo to Sa, 13:00 to 22:00 on So) makes it also good value. Had trouble finding good... More

Great place to visit and you must try the banana beer - honestly the best thing I have tasted! There was a reggae event on that evening but decided to visit in the day as the sun was shining. Lovely little jam!!

Excellent food and service. Fresh and clean tasting...possibly the best I have eaten in Berlin. Highly recommend this place.

it's only a street side bench style eat spot, but I dream about going back. Something about the fresh produce, prompt staff, and alert and efficient service makes this a win. The prices are fine, mostly city folk grabbing lunch, but lure me back anytime.

You know a place is good when the bench seats are nearly full, the staff is buzzing about and alert and everyone is hoeing into their food. Yama delivers fresh tasting dishes that are good value for money.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
