Dropped in for a drink but lovely staff and surroundings so ended up staying for food too. Great quality and really tasty. Free shots at end. Yum. Would recommend xx

We went here on a Monday night at around 7pm. It was completely empty but we decided to stick with our plan to eat here. Any slight concerns we had were unfounded as by 7.30 the place was almost full. Service and food were excellent. We got a discount for having the Berlin welcome card and ended up paying a... More

I and my girlfriend went there two times in a row: once for a hot chocolate, and once for the dinner since we liked the place when we first got there. The staff is very friendly, the dishes are somehow basic but tasty and even if we were very hungry there still was some food left. I cannot recommend the... More

went for a meal here for our last night in Berlin and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. It was happy hour so we had lots of wonderful cocktails for v cheap. Plus free popadoms and shots at the end. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. I would definitely go again next time... More

Since me and my friends were hungry as wolfs, I couldn't imagine that we wouldn't be satisfied with a curry dish for late lunch. We all favor fir the good curry dushes. All three of us selected different dishes from the a la carte menu but none of us was satisfied with the taste. My Tikka Masala was very mild... More

I know it's odd - but on our first night back in Berlin this year we fancied an Indian. It was 10 minutes walk up to Aapka and we loved it. Friendly chatty staff and nice food - there were families with children, people of all ages having a meal. The price was reasonable and you get discount with a... More

We had just been for a very refreshing beer in MACKE PRINZ ,a fantastic bar snd had been sat outside with our beer's admiring the wonderful looking old church ZIONSKIRCHE ( IGLESIA DE SION ) and we decided it was time to have a bite to eat. We had seen this restaurant at the corner of the street and we... More

I had a relaxed meal sitting on the terrace of the Aapka restaurant. It offers a nice view of the busy area. That in combination with a good meal and Indian beer works very well.

Pros: I was starving and they were open. Nice and friendly staff. They speak English. Cons. I should know better than to order a mojito in an Indian resto. Nuff said. For some reason took my cue from this recommendation and schlepped the 20mins to walk there. http://www.world66.com/europe/germany/berlin/berlinmitte/eatingout Food was fine but v avg. ordered chicken korma which I know... Since we have family in Berlin we get a recommendation for restaurants tested by them. Same is true with this restaurant. The restaurant Looks nice and cozy. There are a few things we did not like. This is the first time we were required to pay for a glass of tap water (0.5 euros). Thali food should be cheap, but it... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
