It's a shame this place has had some bad reviews because we have been here a few times on to different visits to Berlin. Gone for coffee and lunch and dinner and enjoyed it each time. Varied menu with good prices and excellent quality. Can particularly recommend the pork knuckle and the curry wurst.

This is a restaurant we have been to on many occasions and on our most recent holiday to Berlin was on the top of our list of places to go. First and formost this is a restaurant that is solely aimed at the tourist but it is superb. The interior is very traditional with pine furnishings and great decor with... More

Enjoyed our Kölsch and looking at all the political paraphernalia on the walls. Didn't eat here except a quick Flammkuechen, which was fine as a snack. Nice outdoor area by the river, but then you miss out on the character of the place. Service was very good.

Not bad but also not very good. Service was quite good. The fish fillet can be a bit more salty and the apple strudel would be better if cinnamon is added. The Schweinshaxe had a lot of meat in it surprisingly.

The food is for a tourist place pretty good. Prices are good we had 3 different meals about 50 € (with drinks) i had Currywurst with chips - the curry was good but the chips are not! same kasseler this was ok but nothing special. The location is great to have a beer and look over the Spree.

I mean this as a compliment. They have managed to carve out a unique venue that tourists flock to, by providing a good quality, unique product in great location although at elevated prices. Service was great and the koelsch was cold which is why most people come. I did not try the food, but everyone around me seemed to like... More

This place has a unique character. Whether it is the history that surrounds this place, or the food, or the ambience - we truly enjoyed our time here.

Friendly Rhineland attitude in sometimes "too Prussian" Berlin. Authentic German cuisine, loved the Matjes Herring filets and Bratkartoffeln, the view on the river, the attentive and polite service and not to forget the "Koelsch" beer.

We were looking for a restaurant serving authentic german food and this really fit the bill. Pleasant outdoor seating overlooking the river. Food was delicious. Strongly recommend the Apfelstrudel. Service excellent.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
